Millions died when the zombie plague swept the country. For the survivors, the journey has just begun. Jenna, Sam, and Lola are still alive. Jenna avoids human contact, traveling East Coast backroads with her boyfriend, a dog named Chicken, and a Louisville Slugger. Sam escapes to the mountains, where he's conscripted into a zombie-slaying militia sent on nightly raids to kill the undead...and innocent civilians. Lola's imprisoned in the "safety" of a zombie-free New Orleans hotel, but life grows more dangerous when her brother gets bitten by a zombie. Jenna arrives in the French Quarter, lured by the false promises of New Orleans' drunken leader. There, she's ripped away from her boyfriend, drugged, and dumped in a death camp after refusing Franklin's sexual advances. Jenna and Lola's lives collide there, where the dead live and the dying are victims of gruesome medical experiments. Escape isn't easy: release the genetically-enhanced zombies from the lab to create a diversion, slip away, and don't get eaten. When Sam arrives, will he join the right side of the battle?

Will she be able to balance her medical duties with her newfound role as a superhero? Find out in this captivating tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat. "Vickie: Doctor by day. Zombie Hunter by night" is book one of the thrilling and adventurous Vickie series. Here is what a few readers are saying... "I could not help but to laugh. There are things that are mentioned in the book, and at about 1/4 of the way into the book, I've got some ideas about what may be going on. I guess I'll find out. On some things I thought, I was right, on others I was completely off the mark. I truly hope that Eileen writes a follow up to this book. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. Definitely a paranormal/romance/mystery with a bit of thriller thrown in." This was such a great book. The imagination of this author is astounding! This isn't your typical zombie book and I didnt really think it horror but everyone is different. As I said this is a different take on zombies but its also a great story. Vickie is a doctor who sets up in a new town as their new resident doctor since the old one passed. She rents a huge house which she runs her office out of as well as has some boarders turned friends staying with her. I dont know what else to say about this book that wont give away spoilers so I'll have to just leave it at that. This is a really great book with a strong heroin and two very hot alpha males who both want her. Add in some supernatural things like zombies, witches and vampires and this book is all you need for a lazy day of reading."

2012: The Zombie Apocalypse is a riveting tale of survival in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with zombies. A group of unlikely survivors are forced to band together to find salvation in a horror-drenched world. Led by Ryan and surrounded by undead monsters, the survivors journey across the wastelands in search of a precious and increasingly rare commoditylife. "But wait," I say. "The zombies in I Am Legend were just infected and could be cured, not similar to these types of zombies." I sit down on my couch and scratch my head. "I'm being so childish here; I'm comparing what is happening right now to movies. I need to figure out what needs to be done," I say before pushing myself off the couch and walking into my office. I grab a notepad from the desk as well as a pen before returning to the couch and sitting down. I push everything off the table and onto the floor before placing the notepad on the table. "Alright first things first I need to hunker down and hold my position for the night. First thing tomorrow morning I need to get out of the city, it isn't safe here, the population is too high. I can easily get overwhelmed and eaten."

In 1968, George Romero's film Night of the Living Dead premiered, launching a growing preoccupation with zombies within mass and literary fiction, film, television, and video games. Romero's creativity and enduring influence make him a worthy object of inquiry in his own right, and his long career helps us take stock of the shifting interest in zombies since the 1960s. Examining his work promotes a better understanding of the current state of the zombie and where it is going amidst the political and social turmoil of the twenty-first century. These new essays document, interpret, and explain the meaning of the still-budding Romero legacy, drawing cross-disciplinary perspectives from such fields as literature, political science, philosophy, and comparative film studies. Essays consider some of the sources of Romero's inspiration (including comics, science fiction, and Westerns), chart his influence as a storyteller and a social critic, and consider the legacy he leaves for viewers, artists, and those studying the living dead.
