Howdy! I'm Eddie Smith and this is the story of my third romantical adventure with my new husband, Whit Hall. OMG! Can you believe we got married? Well, anyway, we did and it's been three and change mostly blissful months and, well, that thing that everyone asks us about still hasn't happened... Not that I'm in any sort of rush. Whit and I still have lots of fun in all sorts of, uh, creative ways. In case you're wondering, the world's oldest teenager, Ronnie Grisham, is still alive and butting his nose in other people's business, namely mine and Whit's. Now he's got it in his head that we need to move even though we just bought a house in Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona. Kids these days... Watcha gonna do? Meanwhile, that made-for-TV movie that everyone's been talkin' about is set to start shooting in a day or two in a place called Hope (LOL) up in British Columbia. Because, you know, this kinda movie always gets made in Canada. To get ready for his close-up, Whit's been down in Miami working with a touchy-feely guy who's been giving him a crash course in how to act in front of a camera. He's driving back up right now and is due home any moment, so I can't talk for long. Let's see... Was there anything else I wanted to mention? Oh, right! Well... Whit's nervous. Of course. And I'm trying to help him relax. And my friends in Orlando still think I've lost my mind and that I got married and bought a house too fast. That doesn't keep them away from the pool and the great view of the river, though. And my mom is doing fine in Austin. Whit's mom has been on radio silence even though she's been to see President Trump. Twice. Oh well... Ooh! Gotta go. Whit just texted that he's about ten minutes away. I'm so excited about going to Canada and watching Whit become a movie star. Woo hoo! I can't wait to find out what happens next!

You might be wondering what Ronnie O'Sullivan is doing writing a book like this. What do I know about eating healthy, right? I'm a champion snooker player, not a personal trainer or a chef and although I've always loved running, I've come to realise that any success in sport is directly related to my attitude towards food as well as fitness. Snooker is all about sharpness, focus, and concentration - how can I do any of those things if I'm not eating well and treating my body right? My game is only as good as I am, so making that link between my mental and brain health and my physical fitness was a lightbulb moment for me and I hope this book will be a wake-up call for you too. We hear lots about mindfulness and self-care these days, but really good physical health starts with the best computer any of us could ever hope for - our noggin (aka our brains!). Written with top celebrity nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert, Top of Your Game is about showing you how to eat, think, and work your way to being your very best - and staying there.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Tarana Burke and Dr. Brené Brown bring together a dynamic group of Black writers, organizers, artists, academics, and cultural figures to discuss the topics the two have dedicated their lives to understanding and teaching: vulnerability and shame resilience. Contributions by Kiese Laymon, Imani Perry, Laverne Cox, Jason Reynolds, Austin Channing Brown, and more NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY MARIE CLAIRE AND BOOKRIOT It started as a text between two friends. Tarana Burke, founder of the ‘me too.’ Movement, texted researcher and writer Brené Brown to see if she was free to jump on a call. Brené assumed that Tarana wanted to talk about wallpaper. They had been trading home decorating inspiration boards in their last text conversation so Brené started scrolling to find her latest Pinterest pictures when the phone rang. But it was immediately clear to Brené that the conversation wasn’t going to be about wallpaper. Tarana’s hello was serious and she hesitated for a bit before saying, “Brené, you know your work affected me so deeply, but as a Black woman, I’ve sometimes had to feel like I have to contort myself to fit into some of your words. The core of it rings so true for me, but the application has been harder.” Brené replied, “I’m so glad we’re talking about this. It makes sense to me. Especially in terms of vulnerability. How do you take the armor off in a country where you’re not physically or emotionally safe?” Long pause. “That’s why I’m calling,” said Tarana. “What do you think about working together on a book about the Black experience with vulnerability and shame resilience?” There was no hesitation. Burke and Brown are the perfect pair to usher in this stark, potent collection of essays on Black shame and healing. Along with the anthology contributors, they create a space to recognize and process the trauma of white supremacy, a space to be vulnerable and affirm the fullness of Black love and Black life.

“Not since the late Leonard Bernstein has classical music had a combination salesman-teacher as irresistible as Kapilow.” —Kansas City Star Few people in recent memory have dedicated themselves as devotedly to the story of twentieth- century American music as Rob Kapilow, the composer, conductor, and host of the hit NPR music radio program, What Makes It Great? Now, in Listening for America, he turns his keen ear to the Great American Songbook, bringing many of our favorite classics to life through the songs and stories of eight of the twentieth century’s most treasured American composers—Kern, Porter, Gershwin, Arlen, Berlin, Rodgers, Bernstein, and Sondheim. Hardly confi ning himself to celebrating what makes these catchy melodies so unforgettable, Kapilow delves deeply into how issues of race, immigration, sexuality, and appropriation intertwine in masterpieces like Show Boat and West Side Story. A book not just about musical theater but about America itself, Listening for America is equally for the devotee, the singer, the music student, or for anyone intrigued by how popular music has shaped the larger culture, and promises to be the ideal gift book for years to come.
