Efforts are being concentrated on gathering population data, determining behavior patterns, and assessing the effects of land use practices adjacent to the park boundary. Movement data conclusively indicates that the existence of semi - autonomous population segments is unlikely and that the determination of population size will be difficult due to the average home range sizes of individual bears.
