Based upon a true story, Wounded by Religion. Healed by Faith chronicles God experiencing life through me as a gay man. Even before the deadly car wreck I barely survived, I was one with God. I had asked God to introduce me to his Son Jesus at an early age. Not Jesus to introduce me to God as of most people. Jesus was big in my life, but only living within me. Not on my sleeve. Before being in a coma for three weeks, people encouraged me to write a book about coming out as a gay airplane mechanic. In 1992, gay employees did not have equal protection under the law; I could have been fired for admitting my sexual orientation. Although I grew up Catholic, neither my parents nor my siblings put the beliefs of the church above the love for their family. Several denominations have closed their doors to practicing homosexuals, referring to it as a choice. Some priests have even denied communion to those who support the gay movement. Fundamentalist Christians brought to the workplace their misconception of the gay population as sick, immoral people in need of saving. This bullying left me with only three choices: 1. Quit. 2. Go back to drinking. 3. Challenge Northwest Airlines to take a stand against the bigotry that ran rampant, not only out in the hangars, but throughout the entire corporation as well. As a direct result of my efforts, Northwest Airlines became the first large domestic air carrier to join the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association in 1994. Join Michael, and the issues of being a gay catholic. Its fiction based on true life experiences to bring out more issues facing the gay community in acceptance. Michaels walk on his journey with God and Jesus is an experience of mystery, uncertainty, and bullying between religion, God and Spirit. Not always done in the name of God. Michael's experience of the unconditional love of God in the value of God's permissive love as Michael gains favor in finding the truth of God which lives within us all. Because before us, God could only imagine what true love was. The author's goal, is to help you remember who you are, or not. Accepting your parents' feared-based religion as your concept of God is just a starting point into this final frontier of letting God experience life through you, otherwise God could only imagine what true love is. We are not our religion. We are more than that. We are Spirit. An energy for God to experience life, love, joy, and peace through. All the things heaven is, as heaven is not some future place, heaven just is.
