“Those Damned Nazis” was written by Joseph Goebbels in 1929. Goebbels was the Minister of Propaganda under Adolf Hitler from 1933-1945. The USA’s flag pledge was the origin of Germany’s infamous stiff-armed salute (and other brainwashing behavior) that was borrowed decades later in Germany and in other countries worldwide. Anyone who rejected the ritual in the public schools was persecuted.
