Drawing heavily on poignant anecdotes from his own experience as a life-long Catholic born in 1960s, Madrid offers readers a way of looking at the Church--its members, teachings, customs, and history--from perspectives many may have never considered. Growing up Catholic during a time of great social and theological upheaval and transition, a time in which countless Catholics abandoned their religion in search of something else, Patrick Madrid learned a great deal about why people leave Catholicism and why others stay. This experience helped him gain many insights into what it is about the Catholic Church that some people reject, as well as those things that others treasure. Drawing upon Madrid's personal experiences, Why Be Catholic? offers a deeply personal, fact-based, rationale for why everyone should be Catholic or at least consider the Catholic Church in a new light.

Avoiding the textbook, narrative approach of most introductions, this volume instead poses well over a hundred commonly asked questions--and some not so common!--and provides thoughtful, short essays in response. The question and answer format means enhanced readability; perfect for casual browsing or in-depth study. General topics include theology, culture, history, scripture, and practice. Questions range from the straightforward ("What circumstances gave rise to Mormonism?"), to the controversial ("Why do Mormons Accept the Book of Abraham as scripture if Egyptologists have discredited it?") to the exotic ("What is Kolob?"; "Is the Garden of Eden in Missouri?")"--

Hewitt attempts to refute the claim that no Mormon could get elected President (along with any other claim that might be made against Romney) while analyzing the former Massachusetts governor's biography and burnishing his conservative and leadership credentials. Hewitt is an agreeable writer, wise enough to take detours (such as an edifying primer on Mormon history and thought) that stave off tedium. He spends far more time extolling Romney than excoriating his Republican and Democratic opponents.

It will explain why the Book of Mormon could not have been engraved by Book of Mormon prophets and is in fact a fabrication of Joseph Smith. There is proof that Mormonism has many instances of false prophesy and there are biblical warnings about issues in the Mormon Church that are brought to light. The most important error in Mormonism is that Mormons believe they will become gods and goddesses if they live worthy lives. It is the phrase "you will be like God", that got Adam and Eve kicked out of the Garden of Eden and how Lucifer was cast out of heaven. There is much more included in the book that will support my assertion that the Mormon Church is not the one and only true church as they claim it is, but rather a counterfeit Christian church. Today, Mormons claim that they are Christian. However, they preach a different gospel and worship a different Jesus. Satan, using Joseph Smith, created a near perfect counterfeit church of Truth mixed with subtle lies. It is insidious and has deceived many. When Truth is confronted by Error, Error questions the authority of Truth. I would encourage you to read the whole book and then draw your own conclusions. Finally and most importantly, the Mormon belief of becoming gods and goddess is not only false, but is also arrogant and very offensive to God. That's what Satan used in the garden to deceive Eve. In Genesia 2:5 he said, "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. In Isaiah 14: 13-14, Lucifer (Satan) said in the 5 "I wills", For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. God does not share his glory with anyone else and He has proclaimed that he is the one and only God, there are none besides Him. For these and additional reasons identified in the book, the Mormon Church is flawed.

What should we do and why? Is there a God? Can we know him? Do Christian doctrines make sense? Can we believe in God in the face of evil? These are fundamental questions that any thinking person wants answers to. These are questions that philosophy addresses. And the answers we give to these kinds of questions serve as the the foundation stones for consrtucting any kind of worldview. In Philosophical Foundations for a Christian Worldview J.P. Moreland and William Lane Craig offer a comprehensive introduction to philosophy from a Christian perspective. In their broad sweep they seek to introduce readers to the principal subdisciplines of philosophy, including epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of science, ethics and philosophy of religion. They do so with characteristic clarity and incisiveness. Arguments are clearly outlined, and rival theories are presented with fairness and accuracy. Philosophy, they contend, aids Christians in the tasks of apologetics, polemics and systematic theology. It reflects our having been made in the image of God, helps us to extend biblical teaching into areas not expressly addressed in Scripture, facilitates the spiritual discipline of study, enhances the boldness and self-image of the Christian community, and is requisite to the essential task of integrating faith and learning. Here is a lively and thorough introduction to philosophy for all who want to know reality.

This book answers these questions and more: Was God ever a man? Were Jesus and Lucifer brothers? Is Scripture still being written? Are we saved by what we do? Did Joseph Smith ever give false prophecies? The meaning of terms Mormons use as well as their views on the Bible reveal the huge chasm between what Mormons and Christians believe. This book will help you share the truth with Mormons that come to your door.
