An intimate portrait of many of my best works from the last two decades: a collection of essays, pictures, lyrics and poetry... The essays range all across the philosophical wheel: a math proof attempt, discussions on metaphysics, sub-atomic physics, spirituality, sexuality, the dreaded modal fallacy, metaphor theory, social protest theory, music theory, cognition theory, consumerism, literature reviews, Project Management, Burkean pentad theory, visual censorship, and, well, many, many more... The Poems are, as many of you might realize, fairly fluid and abstract -- and speak truths from my heart and soul. Caveats: 1. I have been known to use the ""F"" word in some of my poetry -- just sayin', you have been warned... 2. Some of my essays are extremely controversial, as I tend to kick the elephant in the middle of the room from time to time... This would be a fantastic piece to set on your coffee table (unless, of course, you expect young children of a reading age to wander through unattended)...

Before the Ministry of Jesus really began, He had to select His twelve disciples. Two of John the Baptist's followers decided to follow Jesus. The first question Jesus asks is, "What do you seek?" (John 1:38). His reply to their answer "Come and you will see" (John 1:39). I would like to invite you the reader to come with me on a journey that will take one year and a day. This book was originally written for my wife Charise. This way she could have a daily word, scripture and a short illustration combining them both. The word come, the verb, advancement, approaching, to make progress. My hope is that this book will be just a little help one day at a time for you the reader. There were two men on their way to Emmaus, Jesus approached them and began walking with them. I take a little liberty now, thus the name of the book: Come, take My hand and walk with Me awhile, and I'll explain a few things to you (Luke 24:27). My hope is that after we have walked with Him awhile, it will turn into forever.

In the mid-1860s, Kirk Petersen’s family settles on a homestead in North Dakota. After tragedies, he moves to Fargo, where he meets Alice, a beautiful woman running from her past. Wise beyond his years, Wilmer Petersen has reason to distrust her. Morris Nesslebaum is in Fargo looking for work and land. He befriends Alice and Wilmer and falls in love with Myrtle, whose father disowns her. Hazel, a homely teacher with little chance at love finds it in Fargo but is forced to choose between love and a predicament not her doing. The Porters are welcomed into the homesteading community despite their background as former slaves. In Fargo and on the homesteads, these lives have been difficult because of outside influences and personal and natural disasters, so they want to form their own town. They are the “Seeds of Graceton”.

In this groundbreaking compilation of first-person accounts of the runaway slave phenomenon, editors Devon W. Carbado and Donald Weise have recovered twelve narratives spanning eight decades—more than half of which have been long out of print. Told in the voices of the runaway slaves themselves, these narratives reveal the extraordinary and often innovative ways that these men and women sought freedom and demanded citizenship. Also included is an essay by UCLA history professor Brenda Stevenson that contextualizes these narratives, providing a brief yet comprehensive history of slavery, as well as a look into the daily life of a slave. Divided into four categories—running away for family, running inspired by religion, running by any means necessary, and running to be free—these stories are a testament to the indelible spirit of these remarkable survivors. The Long Walk to Freedom presents excerpts from the narratives of well-known runaway slaves, like Frederick Douglass and Harriet Jacobs, as well as from the narratives of lesser-known and virtually unknown people. Several of these excerpts have not been published for more than a hundred years. But they all portray the courageous and sometimes shocking ways that these men and women sought their freedom and asserted power, often challenging many of the common assumptions about slaves’ lack of agency. Among the remarkable and inspiring stories is the tense but triumphant tale of Henry Box Brown, who, with a white abolitionist’s help, shipped himself in a box—over a twenty-seven-hour train ride, part of which he spent standing on his head—to freedom in Philadelphia. And there’s the story of William and Ellen Craft, who fled across thousands of miles, with Ellen, who was light-skinned, disguised as a white male slave-owner so she and her husband could achieve their dream of raising their children as free people. Gripping, inspiring, and captivating, The Long Walk to Freedom is a remarkable collection that celebrates those who risked their lives in pursuit of basic human rights.

Cate Glass's A Summoning of Demons marks the thrilling conclusion for the Chimera team, a ragtag crew who use their forbidden magic for the good of the kingdom. Catagna has been shaken to its core. The philosophists insist that a disastrous earthquake has been caused by an ancient monster imprisoned below the earth, who can only be freed with magic. In every street and market, the people of Catagna are railing against magic-users with a greater ferocity than ever before, and magic hunters are everywhere. Meanwhile, Romy has been dreaming. Every night, her dreams are increasingly vivid and disturbing. Every day, she struggles to understand the purpose of the Chimera's most recent assignment from the Shadow Lord. As Romy and the others attempt to carry out their mission, they find themselves plunged into a mystery of corruption and murder, myth and magic, and a terrifying truth: the philosophists may have been right all along.
