There were considerable differences of illumination, as some days were much more cloudy than others. Both Mr. Thurston and a Brahman forest ranger could, however, see quite as well on the dark as on the bright days, and I do not believe that the variations of illumination which occur in the Open air, unless very great, have any appreciable influence on the acuity of vision.
