"God has chosen to use people to advance His work by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all the world. The continent of Africa has received the light of the Gospel through many such voices, including my parents, Drs. T.L. and Daisy Osborn. We traveled as a family of four, going from nation to nation, living among the people and working with local pastors to organize and conduct historic Mass Miracle Evangelism crusades. Our first time on the continent was in 1956. Many of the evangelists in Africa that have served through the decades are sons and daughters of my parents'' ministries. As you read this historic record of specific evangelists, you will be introduced to Africa - God''s Generals that have impacted the nations of this great continent. Reading these stories allows the Holy Spirit to kindle a new or renewed passion for the work of evangelism in your heart, among your own people and beyond. If God can use these generals He can use you. The purpose of this book is not to place Gospel messengers on unattainable pedestals; it is to invite you to join this company of faith, obedience and purpose, bringing people to the light and truth of Jesus Christ." Bishop Dr. LaDonna Osborn, (osborn.org) In Africa God''s Generals: The Soul Winners, Eddie Sempala honours by documenting stories of faith of some of the men and women of God who have been involved in mass evangelism in Africa over the years and have won many souls to the Kingdom of Heaven for God''s glory. Benson Idahosa, as a young man heard his pastor preach that all things are possible to those that believe. After service, he moved all over Benin, from house to house asking whether there was a dead person he could pray for to resurrect. The Osborns, known for their open air meetings in Africa. You will realise that many of the outstanding African pastors have their roots in the ministry of the Osborns. When T.L Osborn died, he left his daughter, Dr. LaDonna Osborn in charge. She still does what her parents were doing. More than 150,000 churches have been established through their ministry. Enoch Adeboye, In 1975 he was ordained a pastor and after the death of Pastor Josiah, he started on his duty as the General Overseer to grow the church. It is estimated that the church has over 15 million members in Nigeria and over 28 million members worldwide. Reinhard Bonnke, as teenager, after he accepted Christ, he attended a Sunday service where during their preaching, he sensed God speaking to him that he would one day preach the gospel in Africa. In 1967 he arrived in South Africa with his wife, Anni. He has witnessed over 66 million souls coming to Christ in Africa around the world. Angus Buchan, the farmer evangelist who in the early years of ministry wanted to organise and evangelistic campaign but was turned down by the local pastors whom he first contacted. Teresa Wairimu, the evangelist who longed to be prayed for to receive an impartation from Reinhard Bonnke and followed him upto Norway. She received the impartation later on. She is known for the big crusades in Uhuru Park and also for her gift of prophesy. Rev. Teresa has set a standard that women can also be used greatly by God in mass evangelism. David Oyedepo, before starting the church, he read 39 biographies of outstanding ministries, discovering how great ministries are run, acquiring sound knowledge and thinking for running a great ministry. In 1984, when the membership of his church was still under forty, he inquired of the Lord in a 3-day prayer and fasting "Why is this church not growing?" Robert Kayanja, as a young pastor in a war torn country, God used him to awaken the nation of Uganda to the power of God. It will be unfair to talk about revival in Uganda and you don''t mention his name. He longed to meet with T.L Osborn and miraculously interpreted for him when he came to Uganda.

&“Richard Opio has neither the look of a cold-blooded killer nor the heart of one. Yet as his mother and father lay on the ground with their hands tied, Richard used the blunt end of an ax to crush their skulls. He was ordered to do this by a unit commander of the Lord's Resistance Army, a rebel group that has terrorized northern Uganda for twenty years. The memory racks Richard's slender body as he wipes away tears.&” For more than twenty years, beginning in the mid-1980s, the Lord's Resistance Army has ravaged northern Uganda. Tens of thousands have been slaughtered, and thousands more mutilated and traumatized. At least 1.5 million people have been driven from a pastoral existence into the squalor of refugee camps. The leader of the rebel army is the rarely seen Joseph Kony, a former witchdoctor and self-professed spirit medium who continues to evade justice and wield power from somewhere near the Congo~Sudan border. Kony claims he not only can predict the future but also can control the minds of his fighters. And control them he does: the Lord's Resistance Army consists of children who are abducted from their homes under cover of night. As initiation, the boys are forced to commit atrocities—murdering their parents, friends, and relatives—and the kidnapped girls are forced into lives of sexual slavery and labor. In First Kill Your Family, veteran journalist Peter Eichstaedt goes into the war-torn villages and refugee camps, talking to former child soldiers, child &“brides,&” and other victims. He examines the cultlike convictions of the army; how a pervasive belief in witchcraft, the spirit world, and the supernatural gave rise to this and other deadly movements; and what the global community can do to bring peace and justice to the region. This insightful analysis delves into the war's foundations and argues that, much like Rwanda's genocide, international intervention is needed to stop Africa's virulent cycle of violence.

Internal conflicts, dictatorship, and economic disintegration characterized the first twenty-five years of Uganda's independence from British colonial rule, which culminated in the reign of Idi Amin and a violent civil war. The country has since achieved an astounding turnaround of stability and growth. Advancing the Ugandan Economy is a first-hand look at the remarkable policy changes that took place from 1986 to 2012 and their effect in contrast with the turbulent events after independence. Ezra Suruma held several key positions in the Ugandan government during the nation's transition period, including minister of finance. His insightful recounting of those times demonstrates that African countries can achieve economic stability and sustain rapid growth when they meet at least two interdependent conditions: establishing a stable and secure political framework and unleashing entrepreneurialism. Suruma also highlights the strategic areas that still require fundamental reform if Uganda is to become a modern state and shares his vision for the future of his country. Rarely in African history has so much positive political and economic transformation of a country been achieved in such a short time. Suruma's account of the commitment, determination, vision, and dexterity of the Ugandan government holds invaluable lessons in managing the still complex policy challenges facing the African continent.

In this day when Christians and churches are widely dispersed throughout the world, the ques- tion ‘Who is the church?’ could easily be dismissed as irrelevant. In this publication, Bishop David Zac Niringiye pleads that as Jesus warned, we should not be in haste to conclude that any community with religious titles or forms and who speaks the right language of ‘Lord, Lord . . . ’ is authentic church. Taking his cue from Hebrews 11 and 12 the author addresses the motif of ‘the people of God’, looking first at the ancient people of Israel, beginning with Moses, then the new Israel and the covenant in Christ, born through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and finally the life of the new community, the church, during the apostolic era. Through this biblical journey it is made clear that as the pilgrim people of God and the new community in Christ we must be marked by faith, love and hope, looking forward to the full consummation of the kingdom of God – justice, peace and joy, fully realized when ‘the new heaven and the new earth where righteousness dwells’ (2 Peter 3:13) is inaugurated.
