Change your life and reach beyond unnecessary limitations. Empower yourself. Know yourself and all that you really are and can be. Take a new look at healing, health, life, even death, and daily challenges and transitions. Transition and Survival Technologies takes readers further on their inner as well as interdimensional journeys into the worlds of healing, transitioning, shifting realities, and dying. This book takes you into the worlds the human consciousness has a right to access, and can indeed access, to heal and survive here and beyond. "We can free our attention to focus on something much more subtle, abstract, and more real than our so-called worldly experiences. Once we are fully liberated and our perceptions set free to see, a new kind of understanding or vision of reality can come to us. We can then see ourselves as something far more, far greater, than we believed ourselves to be." --Dr. deAngelis

In times of crisis, a well-equipped Bug-Out-Bag could easily make the difference between life and death. But in a truly serious bug-out situation, even hardened survivalists, preppers and outdoorsmen will tell you that the greatest challenge--at least in the first 48 hours--is overcoming the fear and trepidation associated with your situation. Facing your first physical challenge--whatever shape or form that may take--is not as important as a complete and honest acceptance of your circumstances. Armed with the correct frame of mind, you can conquer almost anything. Denial, on the other hand, is used as a defense mechanism to block out painful or overwhelming circumstances. Getting yourself locked into a state of denial could kill you as surely as exposure, starvation or extreme dehydration. If you're not in possession of any specific survival skills, imagine how easy it would be to succumb to the psychological pressures associated with your newfound circumstances. Depending on your immediate needs, what ought to be your first priority? Shelter? Food? Water? Self-defense? Most people who find themselves in an unexpected bug-out situation will automatically fall into a state of shock and denial. Like a deer in the headlights, the mental anguish associated with your new reality could cause you to 'freeze' with indecision or panic. That's why a good Bug-Out-Bag is essential. Surviving the first few days of your new and unexpected ordeal is an important accomplishment: it'll calm your initial apprehension, buoy your spirits and provide you with the fortitude to tackle the next set of challenges. If you're equipped with a decent bug-out-bag you won't have to burden your already challenged mental faculties with the added pressure of having to source your basic survival needs. The suggestions and recommendations in this book may help alleviate some of the anguish associated with being forced to transition from comfort to cave.

Multi-State Survival Models for Interval-Censored Data introduces methods to describe stochastic processes that consist of transitions between states over time. It is targeted at researchers in medical statistics, epidemiology, demography, and social statistics. One of the applications in the book is a three-state process for dementia and survival in the older population. This process is described by an illness-death model with a dementia-free state, a dementia state, and a dead state. Statistical modelling of a multi-state process can investigate potential associations between the risk of moving to the next state and variables such as age, gender, or education. A model can also be used to predict the multi-state process. The methods are for longitudinal data subject to interval censoring. Depending on the definition of a state, it is possible that the time of the transition into a state is not observed exactly. However, when longitudinal data are available the transition time may be known to lie in the time interval defined by two successive observations. Such an interval-censored observation scheme can be taken into account in the statistical inference. Multi-state modelling is an elegant combination of statistical inference and the theory of stochastic processes. Multi-State Survival Models for Interval-Censored Data shows that the statistical modelling is versatile and allows for a wide range of applications.

One part theory (borrowed from business world), one part practice (including detailed case studies of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Arizona), one part inspiration: Beyond Survival offers ideas about how academic libraries can not only survive in the short term, but take advantage of emergent opportunities by judiciously adopting the same organizational development tools and concepts espoused by the business world. While there is a great deal of anecdotal evidence that significant organizational changes are taking place in academic libraries, the literature suggests that most of these changes take the form of evolutionary, or incremental improvement. But what happens when libraries find themselves in a society characterized by increased information availability compression of time and space, and growing turbulence and unpredictability? These are conditions with which the business world has been grappling for years, conditions that require not an evolutionary approach, but nimbleness and rapid response. One part theory (borrowed from business world), one part practice (including detailed case studies of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Arizona), one part inspiration, Beyond Survival shows you how the transition tactics and strategies developed by businesses can be adapted to academic libraries. By judiciously adopting the same organizational development tools and concepts espoused by the business world, academic libraries can not only survive in the short term, but can take advantage of emergent opportunities to ensure long-term excellence.

This work contributes to education for sustainability with innovative pedagogy and a new conceptual approach. It is based on a realistic assessment of our future in the Anthropocene, based on principles of human security and scientific models of remaining safe operating space. It critiques current approaches to education for sustainability and highlights solutions. A chapter on the ethics of sustainability education provides the conceptual basis for a taxonomy of learning outcomes and a section on how culturally diverse communities of learners can transform their guiding values in today's classrooms. Special attention is given to cultural learning, developing shared visions and diverse approaches, collective learning from transition events such as the 2020 pandemic, cultures learning from each other, and teacher education. The book integrates environmental ethics, zero growth and climate mitigation into a blueprint to educate successfully for a Great Transition to a truly sustainable future for a smaller, wiser humanity.
