This guide was developed to serve both the novice and experienced starter in track and field events. Each year in the United States, runners encounter dozens of different starters' mannerisms as they travel to track meets in various towns and states. The goal of any competent and conscientious starter is to insure that all runners receive a fair and equal start for each race they run. There are four sections to this guide: (1) introduction; (2) history of starting; (3) techniques of starting; and (4) bibliography. Appendices contain checklists for field authorities, starter and recall starter's equipment, constructing starter holes, comparison of time and distance for meters and yards, and converting feet into meters. ABOUT THE BOOK Model railroading is an activity that captivates people of all ages and genders. There is something endlessly fascinating about trains, and miniature trains are the most fascinating of all. It's a great pastime that provides a creative outlet, a lot of enjoyment, and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Model railroading is a very adult pastime that makes you feel like a kid again. Best of all, it's a hobby that you can enjoy as a family, parents and children together. It really is the world's greatest hobby. Many are attracted to model railroading but don't know where to begin. You may have seen the impressive layouts created by model railroad enthusiasts and worry that you don't have sufficient space or resources to create something similar. Having sufficient know-how to assemble track, build scenes, or keep electronic components in good working order may also seem like a deterrent. Cost can also be a factor. However, you don't have to be an expert to build your first model railway. Model railroading has a very large support community. It's easy to find an answer to virtually any question you may have about building and maintaining a model train collection, both in person and on the Internet. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK Scale refers to the relationship between model trains and the real thing. O scale used to be called 1:48, with HO scale at 1:87, but measurements have changed somewhat. For the novice, it's best to not get too mired in scale details. Suffice it to say that O scale is the largest model train, and is not very common as it requires more space than most people can allot. HO scale is the most prevalent and the standard for most model railroaders, having the most product selection availability. N is smaller than HO, and although there is a good selection, many hobbyists prefer HO since N requires a higher degree of detail and ability to work with miniature parts. Much depends on individual preference. If you just want miles and miles of track and lots of trains going around, N is great. If you want to re-create an elaborate scene with buildings, people, and geographical features, HO is better. If you get into model railroad building in a big way, you may eventually want to explore other scales, but most model train hobbyists are happiest with HO or N... Buy a copy to keep reading!

High school guidance counselors will like the reference information on testing (test by test, 8th grade to 12th grade, in reference summary pages) and admissions statistics. The book covers test schedules, reporting, fees, fee waivers, test cancellation procedures, information websites, admissions events, admissions statistics for 120 colleges in one spot (the publisher looked them up and calculated them so you don't have to). See about fine print admissions details, like the lowest test scores for admissions at a college. The Starter Guide to College for Clueless Students & Parents is a good value. It doesn't have to be read all at once, but can guide a student and the parents as time passes, even loaned to others.

The first book to examine the practical aspects of setting up and operating funds with a focus on energy commodity markets, this book scrutinises the due diligence process and comprehensively reviews the opportunities and risks of all energy commodity markets as hedge fund investments. Extensive planning and strategy advice prove invaluable to prospective fund managers and investors alike, and detailed discussion of the markets' constraints help inform procedural decisions. Readers gain insight into practical matters including legal and commercial structures, due diligence, fund raising, operations, and more, allowing them to construct a concrete investment plan before ever touching a penny. Asset managers are looking to energy commodities to provide attractive uncorrelated – if volatile – returns. These high returns, however, are accompanied by high risk. Few investors have experience evaluating these investment opportunities, and few prospective fund managers understand the market fundamentals and their associated risks. This book provides the answers sorely lacking in hedge fund literature, giving investors and fund managers the background they need to make smarter decisions. Understand the markets' structures, opportunities, and risks Develop a comprehensive, well-informed investment strategy Conduct thorough due diligence with a detailed plan Examine the practical aspects of fund raising, legal and tax structure, and more Oil has long been traded by hedge funds, but electricity, the fuels that generate electricity, and the environmental products like emissions allowances and weather derivatives have become the new "hot" investment strategies. These high returns come with higher risk, but A Guide to Starting Your Hedge Fund ensures participants have essential information at their disposal.
