Writing poems like this requires great sensitivity, humility, and courage. May the flowers and birds greet you in brotherhood, recognizing us all in Christ, children of the same heaven and the same earth, children of the same breath of the Spirit that encourages and embraces us all, outside, and inside! Serves as a source for the exploration of many dimensions of the human experience in relation to other beings, ranging from machines and blueprints to mollusks and plants. This book presents the complex art installation of Cuban American artist Carlos Estévez, which deals with elaborate explorations on the metaphor of launching bottles to the sea. The artist launches one hundred drawings enclosed in bottles at different parts of the world at different times and occasions. After a short preface, acclaimed art critic and philosopher Jorge J. E. Gracia provides an introductory essay in order to suggest possible interpretive avenues that may be used to delve into the symbolism of the installation. The rest of the book consists of color reproductions of Estévez’s drawings, which are accompanied by English translations of the text found in the drawings, as well as transcriptions of the original Spanish text.

Lumbre de fe is the most extensive and articulate polemic text of polemic against Islam written during the 16th century in Spanish in the Iberian Peninsula. The work is the result of the preaching task carried out by Joan Martí de Figuerola for the conversion of the Mudejars of Zaragoza between 1517 and 1518, a task that brought Figuerola into numerous confrontations with the secular authorities for disturbing the coexistence between the two confessions. Lumbre de fe also stands out for its use of qur’ānic texts in Arabic to attack Islam. These texts, transliterated in Latin characters and translated into Spanish, are commented and discussed by Figuerola, making use of his vast theological erudition and his experience as a preacher in the crown of Aragon. The manuscript in which the work is preserved also contains numerous images representing Islamic beliefs and rites, which further reinforces the enormous originality and strength of the work.

Celebrating both the rebozo as a cultural icon of Mexico and the series of rebozo-inspired paintings by Mexican-Californian artist Catalina Gárate, this bilingual collection of poems gives voices of strength, endurance, joy, and sorrow to the women of Gárate's paintings. The rebozo is considered a physical manifestation of Mexican womanhood throughout every stage of life and can be used as a tool of daily labor: a sling to carry children, a shield from weather or from prying eyes, an heirloom, and even a shroud. Inspired by each painting, these poems, in both Spanish and English, are accompanied by a historical explanation of the role of the rebozo in Mexican history, art, and culture.
