He wrote to Grandisson on the loth of August, in cordial terms, providing him to the See, commanding him to accept the onerous Charge, and expressing a confident belief that his government of the Diocese would be abundantly fruitful, and that he would merit not only the approval and favour of the Apostolick See but the blessing of an eternal reward. He wrote, also, to the Ambassadors on the 28th, expressing his sorrow at hearing that the negotiations were not proceeding as prosperously as be desired, and exhorting them not to lose heart, but, trusting in the succour of the Prince of Peace, to persevere in their good work to the end. They were at St. Macaire when these letters reached them. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
