Nearly all of the Rambo families in the United States are descended from one common ancestor: Peter Gunnarson Rambo, a Swedish colonist who landed on the shores of the Delaware River in 1640 at what is now Wilmington, Delaware. This history of the Rambo family describes Peter and his six children and lists their descendants who have migrated into every state of the Union. Some of the family lines have been extended to the 12th generation with their children comprising the 13th generation. Peter Rambo, Peter Gunnarson Rambo's second son, and his descendants are the focus of this fourth volume of the Rambo Family Tree series. Peter was an active member of Gloria Dei Church, became a large landowner, and was a representative of Philadelphia to the Pennsylvania Assembly in 1709. Peter and wife Magdalena Skute lived on Pennypack Creek in Lower Dublin Township [now part of Philadelphia]. This volume lists all their children and many generations of descendants although generally no people still living will be recorded herein. Rambo is the primary surname in this book although extended families are recorded by daughters who married Davis, Johnson, Kiger, Roof, Runyan, and Smith husbands. A third edition of this genealogy is being compiled as you read this. Please help to improve this genealogy by sending corrections, additions and improvements to me at [email protected]. With your help, the third edition can be even better. Thanks. Ron Beatty, October 2009

The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Vold Forde, Author What questions would you like to ask your grandmothers, great grandmothers or tenth great grandmothers? In this work, the authors of the "grandmother stories"(Dr. Forde and cousins) imaginatively ask their grandmothers questions about the source of their indomitable spirit; and as you read, you will appreciate the choice. The centerpiece of the book consists of interpretative essays featuring our grandmothers in times of trial and times of joy. The essays are accompanied by descriptive chronologies, with the reader appropriately instructed by maps from each period, photographs, sketches, portraits and recipes. An encyclopedic Appendix in CD-ROM form offers further documentation, extensive genealogies, and even more maps, photographs, and archival materials; all of which will eventually be published as Volume II. The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Vold Forde's valiant work of genealogy presented herein is encyclopedic, intelligible and thoroughly entertaining. Lineages of our scattered kindred so lovingly compiled by her, are a "collection for remembrance" inspired by the faithful lives of ten generations of Southern ancestors. Impressive archival research and background materials on the Bankston, Brooks, Cobb, Hamlin, Henderson, Ivey, Jarrett, Lea, McDonald, Miller, Rambo, and Sappingtons of Georgia lines are included. Within the pages of this book, you will find adventure, love, war, peace, depression, and prosperity in the lives of our valiant colonial, pioneer, antebellum and postbellum ancestors. You may correlate traits of these brave and steadfast women with those in your own mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters. If you seek a greater understanding of your Southern ancestry and of yourself, you will surely find it here.

Police officer Dora Henry is investigating the bizarre murders of three geneticists. Meanwhile, strange things are happening everywhere she turns. Weeds are becoming trees; trees are becoming forests. Overnight a city is being transformed into a wild and verdant place. And, strangest of all, Dora can somehow communicate with the rampaging flora. A potential civilization-ending catastrophe is in the making. The nearer Dora gets to a murderer - and to the truth - the more seemingly desperate events begin to entwine. And the answers she seeks today to the salvation of humankind may lie in a far distant future . . . one which is suddenly much closer than anyone imagines.
