When notorious gangster 'Fat Sam' Mahood is murdered, the chief suspect is arrested nearby. But he seems to have suffered a breakdown. Incarcerated in a mental institution, he's known only as the Man in the White Suit. The suspect remains an enigma until Nurse Brenda calls on Mystery Man, former patient and owner of No Alibis, Belfast's finest mystery bookshop, to bring his powers of investigation to bear... However, before our hero can even begin, the Man in the White Suit is arrested for the murder of a fellow patient. But is he a double murderer or a helpless scapegoat? Intrigue, conspiracy, and ancient Latin curses all combine to give the Small Bookseller with No Name his most difficult case to date.

Brenda Wolverine contrasts the story of a girl raped at her high school graduation party and then imprisoned for attacking one of the rapists with a knife, with the dilemmas faced by the female detective whose duty is to stop the ex-con’s vendetta against her rapists five years later. The detective and ex-con—two strong women from different backgrounds—clash in a battle of psychological warfare, only to realize in the end that they share very similar notions of justice and morality.

2049. Earth's prisons are shut down and all inmates placed in massive hibernation tanks. In the ten years since then, no one has broken out…until now. When prisoners check into Washington D.C.'s maximum security "sugar cube," they don't check out. Here lie suspended not just the planet's most dangerous criminals, but also half a million so-called "center inmates"—troublesome activists whose only offense is to challenge those in power. Laurel Cole was one of those inmates—and now she's on the run. After pulling off a meticulously executed escape plan, she and her team must elude the police by descending into the tunnels that run like poisoned veins beneath the city. Pursued by a ruthless mercenary who knows these sewers better than anyone, Laurel seeks help from a group of renegades who live huddled in the fetid darkness. But if she ever hopes to see daylight again—and expose the government's lies—she'll have to go even deeper. . . and the clock is ticking.

This is the casebook of the world's only officially recognized UFO encounter that took place in the UK in December 1980. Previous accounts of the Rendlesham Forest incident have been flawed: people with axes to grind and little access to primary sources and discreditable single eyewitness accounts. Georgina Bruni has had access to police, Ministry of Defence and US military sources and her casebook reveals fresh information on the incident and the possible alien encounter that ensued. It includes interviews with those involved as well as other never-before-reported incidents in the area. The casebook also reveals details of the aftermath and the harsh treatment meted out to those who wavered from the "don't ask, don't tell" line of officialdom. 'While twenty years have passed, she brings new light to this story that just won't go away...' Major General Gordon E. Williams, USAF (Retired)

A young woman living under the tight control of a radical cult in Indiana is abducted by a man claiming to be her uncle. He forces her to flee with him across the country in a series of stolen vehicles. This act of evil which turned violent broke the bonds of her imprisonment within the abusive religious cult of her childhood. While on the road her abductor, wanted for murder, becomes desperate. Suddenly this accident of fate turns fortunate and releases Sylva to freedom in the forest and farmland of central Montana. This surprising turn of events is both fortunate for her, and fortunate for the town of Harrington into whose bosom she is thrust. With the help of new-found friends she becomes established as a much respected member of the community. Both she and Harrington will be the better for the act of evil and the accident of good fortune which brought her to Montana. But who is this newcomer who seems to do so much to make Harrington a better place to live for a diversity of people? Just where had she come from? Her new neighbors cannot quite comprehend. And yet the good she does deeply affects Harrington, and transforms the lives of many of its citizens in ways which no one could have predicted.

Why do some individuals choose to protest political grievances via non-violent means, while others take up arms? What role does whom we trust play in how we collectively act? This book explores these questions by delving into the relationship between interpersonal trust and the nature of the political movements that individuals choose to join. Utilizing the examples of the Arab Spring uprisings in Egypt, Libya and Syria, a novel theoretical model that links the literature on social capital and interpersonal trust to violent collective action is developed and extended. Beyond simply bringing together two lines of literature, this theoretical model can serve as a prism from which the decision to join terrorist organizations or violent movements may be analyzed. The implications of the theory are then examined more closely through an in-depth look at the behavior of members of political movements at the outset of the Arab Spring, as well as statistical tests of the relationship between interpersonal trust and terrorism in the Middle East and globally. Trust and Terror will be of interest to scholars of Comparative Politics and International Relations.
