The utility of such minute descriptions we by no means question in the case of those who possess landed property in the island, or who have an interest in improving its interior administration: but we must repeat that we have strong objections to the attempt to palm this book on the British public as a general view of the state of Sicily. The Abbate's Appendix is the only part that possesses a title to such a character, and it is too short and imperfect to consti tute more than a mere sketch.
