The preliminary goals call for a decrease in, total cattle numbers during 1956 of million head, with million of the decrease in numbers of beef cattle. It is suggested that numbers of sheep be maintained at the level of January 1, 1916. The preliminarv goal for the 1946 spring pig crop had previously been announced at 52 million head, 1 percent greater than the number saved in the spring Decreasedm i1lk, egg, chicken, and turkey production 13 also recommended for 1956.
