DOWNLOAD EBOOK →Love's Shadow: Bruce and Edith Ottley, recently married and of moderate means, live in a minimalist flat in Knightsbridge. The minimal plot centres on Edith’s beautiful friend Hyacinth who is an orphaned heiress loved by nearly all characters, male and female; she marries an unremarkable but attractive young man who is in love with someone else. The circumstances of all characters could be regarded as tragic, trapped as they are in solitude or unsatisfying marriages. However the treatment is comic and most of the characters benign. Tenterhooks: The focus in the second of The Little Ottley series is exclusively on the marriage of Bruce and Edith Ottley. The composure of the admirable Edith is tested profoundly in this novel. Bruce is revealed not only as a bore but as a philanderer. She meanwhile continues to be adored by every other man in the book and to fall in love with one, Aylmer Ross, a highly compatible and attractive lover.
