In an effort to provide a simpler, more accurate and insightful way to generalize and understand these trends, he presents new models for depicting, connecting and understanding three forms of expansion. These models are then applied to specific populations in the U.S. from 1607 to the 1990s, and to other northern European colonizations around the world. He also examines growth and decline in South and Middle America, regions of European countries, Japan, and China. The text concludes with a discussion of local populations, including the growth of cities and urban populations, as well as smaller populations such as towns, villages, and hamlets. This is volume 1, but it's not clear how many volumes are planned. Annotation copyrighted by Book News Inc., Portland, OR.
