ABOUT THE BOOK Possibly one of the most famous of dog breeds, the Boxer is a descendant of the Bulldog, and is native to Germany. Because it is a descendant of an ancient fighting breed, the Boxer has often been kept as a guard-dog, as well as being used by police and military throughout the world. The Boxer’s athleticism and intelligence meant that for many years these dogs were also trained as hunting dogs. The Boxer owes its name to the fighting stance the dog takes when battling with its opponents. It stands on its hind legs and appears to box its opponents with its front paws in a stance similar to that of a boxer. Today, Boxers are popular not for their fighting qualities, but rather their calm and loyal nature. Boxers are intelligent, fun-loving, and great with children, making this breed the ideal family dog. It has also been used as a "seeing-eye" dog due to those same characteristics. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK If your Boxer behaves aggressively, it is usually because of a perceived threat to its own welfare or the welfare of its family. Aggression is not to be confused with bad behavior such as jumping up on people, incessant barking or digging holes in the garden. These are behavioral issues which can be addressed by training. Dogs are driven by instinct and the environment. Many of the things we ask dogs to do, such as sitting still, are counter intuitive. A successful relationship between a dog and its owner is built upon obedience. When a dog has been trained to know the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behavior socializing with adult humans is not a problem. Kids Dogs have a natural protective instinct toward children. The evolutionary process has ensured that dogs are compelled to protect human infants. As with humans, some dogs enjoy the company of children, and some dogs less so. There are numerous factual and anecdotal accounts of the extremely close relationships between dogs and kids... Boxer Dog Training Owning a dog is a big commitment and you should know what is involved in owning your Boxer and getting the most out of your relationship with him. Boxers are loving and lovable and if you treat him right, you will both have hours of pleasure together. Boxers are intelligent and full of energy so you will need good training skills to show them who is boss. Otherwise, they will be more than willing to take the lead - literally! They also need lots of exercise so don't get a Boxer if you find it hard to get up off the sofa. Look on the bright side, you will be as fit as a flea in no time and have a super-toned body and svelte silhouette. This book teaches you - not your dog, as many dog owners think - how to train your Boxer with rewards rather than punishment. Your Boxer wants to please you but he is begging out for guidance from a leader. He has joined your pack, not the other way round. Using consistency and firm but kind guidelines, you will make a friend for life who will always be happy to see you and love you no matter what. However, you should also be aware that Boxers quite often have a shorter lifespan than some other dogs and are prone to certain diseases. This book will tell you what to look out for and what you should be asking the breeder or kennels you get your Boxer from. Some diseases are inherited from their parents and a good breeder will supply you with this information. Every dog is different, but Boxers do have generic traits and behavior that you can be aware of by reading this book. Hopefully, you have bought it before you get your Boxer. In any event, it will be useful in the training and care of your dog. I hope you enjoy your time together. Download your copy Now!
