Thirteen parameters indicative of the tidal inlet geometry are defined and measured with correlations developed. The correlation study indicated a number of strong statistical relationships with minimum inlet width cross-sectional area being particularly important. Cluster analysis and discriminant analysis are applied to the data and an objective classification of the inlets into six groups achieved. (Author).
