“An enthralling conclusion to this superb trilogy, displaying an exceptional combination of originality, magic, adventure, character, and drama.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review) King Shrewd is dead at the hands of his son Regal. As is Fitz—or so his enemies and friends believe. But with the help of his allies and his beast magic, he emerges from the grave, deeply scarred in body and soul. The kingdom also teeters toward ruin: Regal has plundered and abandoned the capital, while the rightful heir, Prince Verity, is lost to his mad quest—perhaps to death. Only Verity’s return—or the heir his princess carries—can save the Six Duchies. But Fitz will not wait. Driven by loss and bitter memories, he undertakes a quest: to kill Regal. The journey casts him into deep waters, as he discovers wild currents of magic within him—currents that will either drown him or make him something more than he was. Praise for Robin Hobb and Assassin’s Quest “Fantasy as it ought to be written . . . Robin Hobb’s books are diamonds in a sea of zircons.”—George R. R. Martin “Superbly written, wholly satisfying, unforgettable: better than any fantasy trilogy in print—including mine!”—Melanie Rawn

Davis and Isabella Bunn combine their complementary skills and experiences in crafting the compelling stories of the HEIRS OF ACADIA historical fiction series. John Falconer, a hero readers can believe in, was introduced in Book 3, The Noble Fugitive. Along with Book 4, The Night Angel, these last three novels of the series can be appreciated on their own. John Falconer, known to most as simply Falconer, is a large, powerfully built man whose gentle spirit shines through the physical and emotional scars of his previous life as a slave trader. His redemption has brought him full circle to the anti-slavery cause and a personal mission to free every slave he possibly can. After the events recounted in The Night Angel, Falconer settles in a Moravian community on the Underground Railroad. He cherishes his new wife, Ada, and her son, Matt, whom he loves as his own. Falconer finally has discovered peace, within and without. When the unimaginable happens, he and Matt face a loss so searing they can barely endure another day. Falconer finds himself back on board ship--this time with a father's responsibilities and an assignment of rescue rather than capture. His course takes him from the eastern seaboard of America to France, from Marseilles to the shores of North Africa. But enormous danger, risk of failure and even death challenge him on the high seas and in the desert's strongholds. He has conquered many of life's storms, but none as vast as this. All the while, those inner bondages that have gripped as powerfully as iron chains are gradually loosening their hold. And a new hope begins to stir within... The story of character forged in the fires of grief, loss and faith

It is almost two years since Custer's defeat at the Little Bighorn and apart from those few who have followed Sitting Bull into Canada, the Sioux have been chased out of the Black Hills and are now subjugated by life on a reservation. But rumours of unrest and a renewal of hostilities are causing concern among the people of the northern settlements. The arrival of a buckskin-clad stranger with eagle feathers affixed to his hat and the mane of his pony is greeted with curiosity and caution by the people of Palmersville. The violence that ensues when he voices sympathy for the plight of the tribes people might have been avoided if his attackers had first learned his name. For the stranger is wagon train scout Wes Gray, known throughout the west as Medicine Feather, brother of the Arapaho and friend of the Sioux.

With age comes wisdom as well as a longing to turn back the hands of time and change the past. Charlie Couter is an old man who, on what he considers his last cattle drive, shares the stories of his life with the young drovers in his charge, in the hopes that they will learn from the events that has nearly destroyed his life. He is a young man full of dreams and ambitions. All too soon, his dreams become nightmares when his beloved young wife dies in a prairie fire along with their daughter and unborn child. The only reminders that Charlie has of her are her journal and a steel and diamond belt buckle that she had made for him. Losing himself in booze, women and cattle driving, he is beaten and left for dead; his precious belt buckle stolen from him. Charlie's quest begins: to find that belt buckle at all costs! His mentor is a mountain man named Buckknife, who also is on an elusive quest, seeking gold from the Black Hills. Through Couter's stories, his drovers learn what it is like to feel emptiness, bitterness and loss as well as maintain hope that somehow, dreams can become reality. This quest takes Couter from the booming lumber town of Stillwater, Minnesota and the rugged St. Croix River Valley in the 1850's to Kansas and the Black Hills of Dakota Territory during a turbulent time when the government was rounding up the native Sioux and Wild Bill Hickok was a well known reason to visit the card tables!

"THE BOOK OF SAMPLES" is just that, a variety of poetry of my favorite collections, over the past 38 years. In this book, you will read poems, of love, history, Everyday life, Humorous, Eerie and Christian poems. As well as my very first poems. Some are strictly my imagination, some are very true, I'll let you figure out which ones are real and which ones are not. Each poem tells a story, that's my style a story inside of every poem. You will read about (The Round House), my first Eerie poem. I'll tell you about the horrible things that happened there one night, in a little town in Oklahoma. You will read about an old building, that was (Boarded Up) for so many years, until someone entered and unleashed the horror, that was locked up inside. And I must talk about the God all mighty, with some of my Christian poems. And some history about Dr Martian Luther King, you will get a chance to learn all about his life. A poem called (Family) a story about a family back in the 1800's something happened so amazing that takes a great number of years to unfold and all the cards had to fall in the right place. You will read about one of the characters in the book that had an experience with a semi-Truck, that will just make you gasp, when you read what happened. Or my sports poems about this young man that was sent to prison, who claims to be innocent, he became a boxer while in prison, and you won't believe what happened to him. And of course my favorites, Chandler Baseball camp and the last and longest poem that I wrote, Barn Wood. And many other poems that I enjoyed writing.

Through vivid characterizations of people and place, Joyce West’s storytelling—evocative of L. M. Montgomery’s in her Anne of Green Gable series—draws her reader into the richly-textured, rural setting of New Zealand in the mid-20th century. In this first book, young Gabrielle Allan (called Gay) is living contentedly on Drovers Road, her Uncle Dunsany’s sheep station in the hill country a hundred miles from Gisborne. Besides her young, bachelor uncle there are her three orphaned cousins—Eve, Hugh and Merry—and their Great-Aunt Belle. Taken in by Dunsany years before, after her parents’ divorce, Gay now scarcely remembers any other life. There are lessons at the local school, taught by pretty, sensible Susan Leigh, regular chores, plenty of riding and jumping, pranks with Merry, unlikely pets—and abundant potential for unexpected adventures. Then, everything starts to change. With boarding school suddenly looming on the horizon, Gay and Merry—besides hating the idea—also begin to realize the expense they are to their uncle. Are they the burden standing in the way of Uncle Dunsany’s marriage? Additional unsettling possibilities are added when Gay learns that her father is returning to New Zealand after an absence of many years. Will this mean leaving Drovers Road forever? In a story filled with unforgettable characters (human and otherwise), horse shows and hunts, careless actions and scary consequences, happy (and not-so-happy) romances, young Gabrielle learns something about love and trust through the shared ups and downs of a very human, but also very caring family and extended community. Original Book: 186 pages This is the first book in the Drovers Road Collection. The second book in the series is Cape Lost. The third book in the series is The Golden Country.
