Excerpt from The Salt Creek Oil Field: Natrona County, Wyo During the last two years the region lying north of Casper, Wyoming, near the northern border of Natrona County, has shown promise of becoming an important factor in the production of high grade oils of paraffin base. The developed field lies in townships 39 and 40 north, ranges 78 and 79 west of the sixth principal meridian, in the drainage basin of Salt Creek, the wells obtaining their oil from a sandstone in the upper portion of the Benton formation, which underlies the region. The extremely high grade of the oil, which ranges from 37 to 43 Beaume, and the great productiveness of the wells, which yield from 0 to 1200 barrels of oil per day, are among the things which are attracting wide-spread attention to the region.
