The author Robert M. Sutherland is an accomplished Canadian criminal and civil trial lawyer with 34 years at the bar in five provinces, having had some notable successes, changing the law nationally and provincially at various points in time. He is philosophically a moderate realist and a natural law thinker, in the tradition of the three great Western thinkers: Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas and MortImer J. Adler and a former Canadian director of the Chicago-based think-tank “Mortimer J. Adler’s Centre for the Study of the Great Ideas”. He is an evangelical Christian and a member of the United Church of Canada. This is how he would format the testimonial evidence of the various gospel writers in the court of public opinion for the purpose of assessing their individual and collective credibility and reliability and ultimately their three basic historical claims: namely, (1) Jesus of Nazareth claimed to be divine. (2) He died for that claim. (3) He rose again from the dead to establish the truth of that claim. These are purely historical matters, knowable and provable on a balance of probabilities. And to assist the reader he has provided some helpful methodologies for understanding the nature of truth, the nature of the natural moral law and the nature of historical inquiry.

The Parallel Chronological Gospels puts all four gospels in parallel columns, and the life of Jesus Christ in chronological order. The sequence of events in parallel columns are highlighted in vertical hierarchy, and is easy to follow without confusion about the timing, location, and context of such events. Readers may choose to read only the highlighted portions of parallel passages, or read the entire account in each gospel side by side. In this work, the King James Version has been modified by changing archaic words to modern, easy-to-understand synonyms, to produce a unique modified King James Version (mKJV), that is refreshingly quite readable and easy to understand. The Parallel Chronological Gospels will revolutionize your reading, and comprehension of the gospel accounts of Jesus' life.

This source edition of Gessner’s private library contains those seventy eight books that Gessner read most carefully and annotated by hand. The majority have been reproduced from the rich holdings of the Zentralbibliothek Zürich, while other important copies included in this edition are held by the University Library of Basle. The marginalia in these books are so numerous that they almost constitute a new set of sources, which are of interest not only to historians and philologists but also to those who study the history of early modern medicineand the natural sciences.
