Excerpt from Who's Who Year-Book for 1908 The Who's Who Y ear-book is made up of the tables which were formerly such a popular feature in Who's W710 itself. These tables were, in fact, the original nucleus of the book, which developed on different lines into a biographical annual. Thus, though the two books are now entirely distinct, there is an underlying connection, and additional details concerning all persons of eminence who are entered in the tables of the year-book will be found in H'ho's We. The year-book was issued in response to numerous suggestions and requests. In spite of the large number of reference books, there is still need for one where the information can be seen literally at a glance, and which includes not only the gist of information contained in many expensive publications, but some original tables to be found nowhere else. Under the last heading may be classed a list of Race Meetings with dates of their fixtures and names of the Clerks Of the Course, a table of London Theatres with their lessees and managers, and, among the new tables appearing for the first time in this edition is one of the Members of the French Academy, and another of the Heads of Colleges at the Universities Of Oxford and Cambridge, and a third Of the Captains of First Class County Cricket Elevens. For corrections and additional information in regard to all matter appearing in the book, the editor and publishers are greatly obliged to the various secretaries, registrars, and other Officials without whose aid it could never have been brought up to date.
