Excerpt from The Cambrian Journal Arrangements have been made for securing the services of several men of learning; also, for the enlargement of the Cambrian Journal; so that, altogether, our prospects for the ensuing year are very promising. We are glad to find that Taliesin and the Brython - magazines of a kindred character with the Cambrian Journal, but conducted exclusively in the vernacular tongue - continue with unabated vigour to instruct and enlighten the Cymro uniaith in matters connected with the History and Literature of Wales. It gives us also unfeigned pleasure to learn that measures have been taken for re-invigorating the Welsh MSS. Society. Hitherto its operations, for various reasons, had been tediously slow, but we trust that, henceforth, it will not be liable to this accusation, but that it will issue at least one goodly sized volume a year. There are materials enough in the British Museum, as well as in other Libraries, both public and private, throughout England and Wales, to occupy its attention at this rate for several years to come. We beg to thank those friends who have contributed Papers to the Cambrian Journal during the past year, and entreat a continuance of their kind services. Nid da ond a vo da i arall. Excerpt from The Cambrian Journal: Published Under the Auspices of the Cambrian Institute When the Cambrian Institute was founded in 1854 by the late Ab Ithel with the aid of a few learned and patriotic Welshmen, the principal object he had in view thereby, was to unite in feeling and action his fellow-countrymen not only in the Principality, but also wherever resident in any other part of the world, with individuals of other nations who were interested in the study and promotion of Celtic literature, with the express intention of preserving all remains of archaeological value, as well as of publishing the unedited historical and legendary records of the ancient Cymry, the poetical and musical compositions of their bards, and other productions of acknowledged importance. The Institute, without adopting the cause of any particular class or creed, either political or religious, was designed also to be fully alive to the imperative necessity of using active measures to promote the intellectual, scientific and social improvement of the Welsh community. And in order to carry into effectual operation the objects thus proposed the Cambrian Journal was at once started under its auspices and published as a quarterly periodical.
