Clay Zeeman is popular, good-looking, and rich. He gladly takes all life has to offer--and then some. Occasionally, though, even that's not enough, and the scheming rich kid sets off to liven things up, much to the dismay of his naIve pal, Jonny. Jonny is the nice guy who doesn't always finish last but somehow never manages to finish first either. For Jonny, a day at community college followed by a rousing game of foosball with his grandmother is all the adventure he needs. But as the best friend and fall guy of Clay Zeeman, Jonny leads anything but a dull life. Luckily, Jonny has Paula, who's always been like a protective big sister. Backing up this troublesome trio is Angus the ferret, addicted to caffeine due to his time in a caffeine research laboratory. Together, Clay and his pals get themselves into utterly ridiculous situations. For example, there's the ominous threat of Bill Gates detonating a bomb implanted into Jonny's skull and the possibility of Oprah Winfrey eliminating the Jerry Springer show. In memory of artist Brett Merhar, The Best of Free for All is a collection of his comic best, intended to make you laugh and fondly remember an imaginative man who died much too young.

Free for All is an irresistible behind-the-scenes look at one of America’s most beloved and important cultural institutions. Under the inspired leadership of founder Joseph Papp, the Public Theater and the New York Shakespeare Festival brought revolutionary performances to the public for decades. This compulsively readable history of those years—much of it told in Papp’s own words—is fascinating, ranging from a dramatic early showdown with Robert Moses over keeping Shakespeare in the Park free to the launching of such landmark productions as Hair and A Chorus Line. To bring the story to life, film critic Kenneth Turan interviewed some 160 luminaries—including George C. Scott, Meryl Streep, Mike Nichols, Kevin Kline, James Earl Jones, David Rabe, Jerry Stiller, Tommy Lee Jones, and Wallace Shawn—and masterfully weaves their voices into a dizzyingly rich tale of creativity, conflict, and achievement.

When you follow a gluten-free diet, your biggest search is for really good bread and baked goods. This quest took me on a fantastic journey of gluten-free sourdough, which is a safe and healthy choice for people with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, and other dietary concerns. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2010 after battling extreme fatigue. Eating gluten-free at home wasn't a huge struggle for me, but it involved a steep learning curve. I had to educate myself on how to live gluten-free and understand how gluten like wheat, rye and barley appears not only in bread, but also in sauces and packaged foods of all types! I also had to learn to be aware of cross-contamination at home. I started with a nutrition class offered at the hospital after I was diagnosed and did some research online. I also purchased a book called Gluten-Free Diet which I found to contain the most accurate and detailed information.

How did our children end up eating nachos, pizza, and Tater Tots for lunch? Taking us on an eye-opening journey into the nation's school kitchens, this superbly researched book is the first to provide a comprehensive assessment of school food in the United States. Janet Poppendieck explores the deep politics of food provision from multiple perspectives--history, policy, nutrition, environmental sustainability, taste, and more. How did we get into the absurd situation in which nutritionally regulated meals compete with fast food items and snack foods loaded with sugar, salt, and fat? What is the nutritional profile of the federal meals? How well are they reaching students who need them? Opening a window onto our culture as a whole, Poppendieck reveals the forces--the financial troubles of schools, the commercialization of childhood, the reliance on market models--that are determining how lunch is served. She concludes with a sweeping vision for change: fresh, healthy food for all children as a regular part of their school day.

“Rachel Macy Stafford's post "The Day I Stopped Saying Hurry Up" was a true phenomenon on The Huffington Post, igniting countless conversations online and off about freeing ourselves from the vicious cycle of keeping up with our overstuffed agendas. Hands Free Mama has the power to keep that conversation going and remind us that we must not let our lives pass us by.” --Arianna Huffington, Chair, President, and Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, nationally syndicated columnist, and author of thirteen books http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ DISCOVER THE POWER, JOY, AND LOVE of Living “Hands Free” If technology is the new addiction, then multi-tasking is the new marching order. We check our email while cooking dinner, send a text while bathing the kids, and spend more time looking into electronic screens than into the eyes of our loved ones. With our never-ending to-do lists and jam-packed schedules, it’s no wonder we’re distracted. But this isn’t the way it has to be. In July 2010, special education teacher and mother Rachel Macy Stafford decided enough was enough. Tired of losing track of what matters most in life, Rachel began practicing simple strategies that enabled her to momentarily let go of largely meaningless distractions and engage in meaningful soul-to-soul connections. She started a blog to chronicle her endeavors and soon saw how both external and internal distractions had been sabotaging her happiness and preventing her from bonding with the people she loves most. Hands Free Mama is the digital society’s answer to finding balance in a media-saturated, perfection-obsessed world. It doesn’t mean giving up all technology forever. It doesn’t mean forgoing our jobs and responsibilities. What it does mean is seizing the little moments that life offers us to engage in real and meaningful interaction. It means looking our loved ones in the eye and giving them the gift of our undivided attention, leaving the laundry till later to dance with our kids in the rain, and living a present, authentic, and intentional life despite a world full of distractions. So join Rachel and go hands-free. Discover what happens when you choose to open your heart—and your hands—to the possibilities of each God-given moment.
