Lindores Loch is a picturesque natural ice rink and the hills and valleys surrounding it have echoed over the centuries to the clamour of many epic curling matches with keen curlers such as Dagleish, Pitcairn of Kinnaird, Buist of Berryhill, Walker of Higham and Woodmill, Dun of Grange and Russell of Parkhill. On a cold day on Friday, 28 January 1831 eleven men of Abdie Parish, Fife gathered together on the frozen Loch of Lindores to begin an historic curling match. Few knew at the time that this match would play a significant role in the history of what later became known as the Abdie Curling Club. This then is their story.
