Only in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (north Vietnam), where weather was unfavorable, did agricultural production decline. And aside from North Vietnam, the agricultural sectors of these Asian Communist countries were not affected by unusual domestic or international events. In North Vietnam, 1973 was a year of reconstructing the agricultural economy after the signing of the January 1973 peace agreement.
