Life can be so precarious. You truly don't know what life will throw at you, let alone the reasons why. This is true for many of us. There are times life can get so hard and leave you at a loss for where to turn or look for help. You know, like getting through things that seem to be too tough to handle on your own. My life, for one, has taken me to some truly dark, dismal places, not to say that happiness hasn't found me every now and then. It's through my journey that I had found some pieces that gave me light enough to see my way through whatever it was that left me in the dark. It is my pleasure as well as my pain to share my story with you, and I hope that you will find some pieces that will give you light enough to forge ahead and not become a bitter soul. For those of you who have not been grazed by the dark side, I pray this book will give you encouragement to help others in need of a helping hand. Can we learn not to judge others? Can we lend a shoulder to the brokenhearted, the battered and abused? I could have taken the low road and turned bitter and hateful, but I didn't do that. As you read my book, you'll see why.

This book describes the difficulties a family encounters as they live through a heartrending journey with a son who has chosen a life of addiction. Many families will be able to relate to the scenarios within their own lives. It is written with an interesting twist of nursery rhymes revised to describe a young man’s attempt at life. Don't be surprised to read that Cliff could jump over the moon or that the Son came down and washed the devil out. In this account of a family’s attempt at normalcy, one realizes that a life guided by Christ will never be normal, because He specializes in the unbelievable. The faith of a mother, the grace of the Lord, and the undeniable hold of addiction are all rolled up in this story of a boy who always seems to be just beyond the window.

What is the distinction between reality and fiction? Sanity and insanity? These are the questions that twin siblings Jasmin and Herby find themselves attempting to answer. Jasmin writes in an attempt to understand what is true. She struggles to maintain separation between her scrambled memories and her grief stricken reality without losing herself in the process. Herby tries to answer most of the unanswered questions that Jasmin's letters raise. He also battles between his sanity and insanity in his efforts to gain the love and affection of his beloved sister. He will eliminate any boundaries that come between him and what his heart longs for regardless of the consequences. However, what ails the two most is what has brought them to the mental torment they suffer. Their less than normal childhoods certainly did not foster reputable adulthoods. What confines Jasmin to her white prison? Who are her daily noonday "friends" that visit her at the cusp of her reality leaning over her imagination? What motivates Herby to want to destroy all those that stand in his way of pursuing his only love? Will he accomplish all that his soul desperately tries to fulfill? With all these unanswered questions and more, it is no wonder why the two bear the mental torment to which they are submitted.
