Results show pronounced surface drift to the north in winter and to the south in spring, each drift associated with a strong wind flow. From April to late in the fall the drift is variable; during this period drift cards were returned showing surface drift opposite to wind flow, indicating that wind direction and intensity are not necessarily indications of surface current flow.
