The suedehead subculture was an early-1970s offshoot of skinhead subculture in the UK and Ireland. Although sharing similarities to 1960s skinheads, suedeheads grew their hair longer and dressed more formally, and although often working class like skinheads, some had white collar jobs, which bred a more formal attire such as brogues or loafers instead of heavy boots. Though there were similarities in musical taste at the beginning, by the late 1970's Suedeheads were listening to 2-Tone artists such as 'The Beat', and glam rock bands such as 'Slade' and 'Mott The Hoople'. Beautifully illustrated throughout and with a foreword from none other than Paul Weller, this is the definitive visual history of one of Britain's subcultures from the 1970's.

The London-based Ready, Steady, Go! began broadcasting in August of 1963 and, within a matter of weeks, became an essential television ritual for the newly confident British teenager. It set trends and became the barometer for popular culture by attracting and presenting anyone who was anyone in popular music: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Animals, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Otis Redding, and many more. RSG! also provided the first small screen exposure for then-unknowns such as Rod Stewart, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Donovan, and Jimi Hendrix. Ready, Steady, Go! ran for three and a half years, setting a blueprint for music presentation and production on television that resonated over the following decades and can still be felt today. Featured in this lavishly illustrated and definitive history of the show are hundreds of color and black and white images--the bulk of them previously unpublished--as well as exclusive essays by Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, Eric Burdon, Donovan, Andrew Oldham, Lulu, and others. Also included is a detailed guide to all 173 episodes--with complete artist appearances and the songs they performed--as well as forewords from the show's original editor Vicki Wickham and acclaimed director Michael Lindsay-Hogg. This is the first full documentation of the show that went from quintessential Swinging London accessory to its current status as the most legendary popular music program of all time.

Seven drinking buddies decide to buy a racehorse and embark on the journey of a lifetime in the book that inspired the film Outside Bet. It's 1985 - Thatcher is in power, Sade is on the radio and the print workers have gone on strike. A motley rabble of seven firm friends: Thimble, Gudger, O'Sh, Fred the Shoe, Dave, Alfie and Bax meet every Sunday in their favourite South London boozer for banter of the highest order and a lot of taking the mick. Then, out of the blue, one of their number receives some news which knocks him and his merry band for six. Reeling from this shock and confused about how to deal with it, the boys meet and rally in standard fashion, in the Dutchman with a few light ales and an aim to set the world to rights. One day an unknown character approaches the crew and asks them a most intriguing question...'Does anyone here want to buy a racehorse?!' From that simple but surreal question unfolds the story of seven likely lads who embark on a unique journey in the name of their mate, and what happens when they just decide to go the whole bifta.

* A classic among photobooks* The most important record of skinhead culture in Britain* This book has become a cult itself - Observer ReviewSkins by Gavin Watson is arguably the single most important record of '70s skinhead culture in Britain. Rightly celebrated as a true classic of photobook publishing, the book is now reissued in a high-quality new edition under close supervision from the photographer. The scores of black and white shots offer a fascinating glimpse into a skinhead community that was multi-cultural, tightly knit and, above all else, fiercely proud of its look. These are classic photographs of historical value. "What makes Gavin's photos so special is that when you look at them, there's clearly trust from the subject towards the photographer, so it feels like you're in the photo rather than just observing." - Shane Meadows (Director of award-winning film This Is England). The book, described by The Times as "a modern classic", forms an important visual record of its time and has attained cult status in the genre, alongside works by other eminent photographers such as Derek Ridgers and Nick Knight. "Arguably one of the best and most important books about youth fashion and culture ever published." - Vice Magazine
