This book invites readers who consider themselves savvy investors in their long term future to give some serious thought to the lifetime(s) that may come next. The authors approach is to investigate the essential relationship of the human soul to time. Whether the reader currently believes in one lifetime or many, the relationship of the soul to time will condition whatever comes next on the other side of the portal of death. There are many nave portrayals and gross misconceptions about what comes next, whether one believes in an eternity in heaven or an indefinite number of reincarnations. This book tries to get beyond many of these limited conceptions. Too many people have only childhood information to work with when thinking about their long term future. Unfortunately, everything you need to know to make savvy investments in your long term future was not taught in kindergarten

A wildly imaginative novel about a man who is reincarnated over ten thousand lifetimes to be with his one true love: Death herself. “Tales of gods and men akin to Neil Gaiman’s Sandman as penned by a kindred spirit of Douglas Adams.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review) First we live. Then we die. And then . . . we get another try? Ten thousand tries, to be exact. Ten thousand lives to “get it right.” Answer all the Big Questions. Achieve Wisdom. And Become One with Everything. Milo has had 9,995 chances so far and has just five more lives to earn a place in the cosmic soul. If he doesn’t make the cut, oblivion awaits. But all Milo really wants is to fall forever into the arms of Death. Or Suzie, as he calls her. More than just Milo’s lover throughout his countless layovers in the Afterlife, Suzie is literally his reason for living—as he dives into one new existence after another, praying for the day he’ll never have to leave her side again. But Reincarnation Blues is more than a great love story: Every journey from cradle to grave offers Milo more pieces of the great cosmic puzzle—if only he can piece them together in time to finally understand what it means to be part of something bigger than infinity. As darkly enchanting as the works of Neil Gaiman and as wisely hilarious as Kurt Vonnegut’s, Michael Poore’s Reincarnation Blues is the story of everything that makes life profound, beautiful, absurd, and heartbreaking. Because it’s more than Milo and Suzie’s story. It’s your story, too. Praise for Reincarnation Blues “The most fun you’ll have reading about a man who has been killed by both catapult and car accident.”—NPR “This book made me laugh out loud. And then a page later, it made me sob. Reminiscent of Tom Robbins and Christopher Moore, Poore finds humor in the dark absurdities of life.”—Chicago Review of Books “Charming . . . surprisingly light and uplifting . . . It reads like a writer having fun.”—New York Journal of Books

What resources do thoughtful parents fall back on when the faith-based religious practices of their youth no longer satisfy their own spiritual needs, and yet they truly want to raise their children with a foundation in some faith-based practice? Thoughtful parents struggle with this basic question: how do we raise our children to have a solid religious footing? The suggestion for guidance made in this book is that really good questions can be the resource parents are looking for. “Pathfinder questions” are the really good questions that not only illuminate the way to go; they actually help create the way to go. Pathfinder questions are one of the resources from the spiritual technology toolkit of the Buddha. This aspect of the Buddhist methodology can be applied to the practice of any faith-based religion without the least conflict or compromise whatsoever. Pathfinder questions are like a lighthouse beacon. They offer guidance without coercion. The path is illuminated; the obstacles are made clear; but the choice is like the boat captain’s whether to sail ahead full speed or not. If the reader chooses to ask the pathfinder questions as a way to guide their children, they will be choosing to sail full speed ahead.

This volume is a compilation of six smaller books that were published between 2012 and 2014. They were written as though I were taking dictation. Some higher power unlocked the gates of inspiration and articulation, and I wrote almost continuously for three hours every day without ever fi rst composing an outline for any of these books. Instead of coming out as gibberish, they form a coherent, and I feel, cogent whole, and so I have grouped them together in one volume. Performance excellence in any fi eld requires, among other things, a clear goal that can be methodically approached incrementally in manageable steps and stages. Without a clear goal, there can be no cogent methodology. Accomplishment in the practice of a spiritual discipline that leads to excellent results is no diff erent. Together these books off er a clear goal and method for accomplishing what I feel is the universal target of every valid form of spiritual practice, namely, seeing through the illusion of our separateness. This goal is universal to every form of spiritual aspiration. The methods outlined in this book, therefore, bypass every form of sectarianism. They can be applied and practiced by anyone of any faith who is sincerely motivated to deepen in the spirit that unites us all.

Among the topics covered here are: The roots of American democracy in Roman history The migration of 15 million Italians, 1880-1920 Catholicism in Italian-American culture Food, music, and other Italian cultural traditions The Mafia: myth and reality Cultural icons: DiMaggio, Sinatra, Madonna & more As vibrant and packed full of history as previous volumes in this extraordinary series, Passage to Liberty is a splendid and loving tribute to the Italian-American experience.

This book is about the perils and pitfalls of the busy mind. Busyness not only challenges our mental and physical health; there are also the subliminal messages that come hidden within the concession to the demands of busyness. This book asks the reader to view the whirl going on in the world today as though it were a stage set, and you are the director as well as one of the actors in the drama. The stage set device is a way to get a fresh and, hopefully, a refreshing perspective on the whirligig merry-go-round that is the busy whirl happening on the world stage today. The movement of the book takes the reader from an unreflective absorption in the whirl of time to a standpoint of spacious clarity, a place that allows one to see clearly what is really going on.

Do you believe in life after death? Marcus Reno didn't! That's all just nonsense as far as he was concerned. Such a shame too as he has been reincarnated a total of 187 times. But Marcus didn't believe in reincarnation. “That's just New Age crap,” he often said. Besides, he certainly didn't want to suffer to pay back all the bad karma he had accumulated in life. A gambler and a hustler at heart, he lived by the notion that anything worth gambling on was worth cheating at. He ran an underground poker parlor at his home in San Diego. That is, he did until he was caught cheating and was forced to leave the area. Meeting another hustler, Professor William (Wild Willy) Boggs, he embarked on a hunt for the lost treasure of the outlaws Jesse and Frank James. The adventure ended badly with Marcus losing his life.At the time of his death he didn't believe in an Afterlife, so he didn't experience one. Activities were going on around him, but he wasn't able to perceive them. Floating out of his body, he entered a velvety, peaceful darkness where there was nothing - nothing at all …. until he met Sumantra and learned LIFE'S GREATEST SECRET. Then he did the most incredible thing – he went back to the physical world he just left to complete what he came to Earth to experience this time.Along the way, he learned that we are much more than our physical bodies and that his particular life as Marcus Reno was only one of an infinite number that his soul could experience. He realized that suffering and disease arise when our consciousness forgets its immortality and starts to believe that our current life experience, in the world of space and time, is all there is. And he learned that there is no such thing as karmic debt and that suffering is not good for the soul unless it teaches you how to stop suffering. He discovered all that and much, much more.

: Numerous great thinkers have believed in the transmigration of the soul. General Patton, Gandhi, Henry Ford, the Dalai Lama, all discussed memories of, or beliefs in, having past lives. The great philosophers Pythagoras, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and even Saint Augustine believed in the rebirth of the soul. Awakening of a Warrior is the result of Jaco’s investigation—his treasure hunt—into the lifetimes he experienced before the present. Included are his lives as King Abimelech of Gerar, who allied with Abraham in the creation of a new religion called Judaism; Cyrus the Great, who unified all of Persia and implemented Zoroastrianism as the state religion; and Marcus Furius Camillus, who came to be considered the second founder of Rome.
