This publication, which was prepared for the meeting of the ministers of higher education, in Bergen in May 2005, reports on how the organisation of higher education is evolving in the 40 countries signatory to the Bologna Declaration. It assesses progress towards each of the following aims of the Bologna Process: adoption of a two-cycle structure (Bachelor/Master), incorporation of doctoral programmes as the third cycle, introduction of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), the provision of the Diploma Supplement and the establishment of a system for higher education quality evaluation. A comparative overview precedes the descriptions relating to each country in turn. Each description is accompanied by a diagram illustrating the structure of higher education in the country concerned in 2004/05, including the main paths, the conditions governing entry to ISCED levels 5 and 6, and the lengths of the various courses.

Lifestyle journalism has experienced enormous growth in the media over the past two decades, but scholars in the fields of journalism and communication studies have so far paid relatively little attention to a field that is still sometimes seen as "not real journalism". There is now an urgent need for in-depth exploration and contextualisation of this field, with its increasing relevance for 21st century consumer cultures. For the first time, this book presents a wide range of studies which have engaged with the field of lifestyle journalism in order to outline the various political, economic, social and cultural tensions within it. Taking a comparative view, the collection includes studies covering four continents, including countries such as Australia, China, Norway, Denmark, Singapore, the UK and the USA. While keeping the broader lifestyle field in mind, the chapters focus on a variety of sub-fields such as travel, music, food, health, fashion and personal technology journalism. This volume provides a fascinating account of the different facets of lifestyle journalism, and charts the way forward for a more sustained analysis of the field. This book was originally published as a special issue of Journalism Practice.

We all fear selling out. Yet we all face situations that test our ideals and values with no clear right answer. In a world where compromise is an essential aspect of life, authors Lily Zheng and Inge Hansen make the bold claim that everyone sells out—and that the real challenge lies in doing so ethically. Zheng and Hansen share stories from a diversity of people who have found their own answers to this dilemma and offer new ways to think about marginalization, privilege, and self-interest. From these stories, they pull out teachable skills for taking the step from selling out to selling out ethically. The Ethical Sellout is for all those committed to maintaining their integrity in a messy world.
