Cap. 78) The summary shows that in 1907, as compared with 1906, there was an increase of more than four and a quarter millions in gross receipts, but that nearly ninety per cent. Of this increase went to meet increased working expenditure, the increase in net receipts being less than half a million pounds. The total amount of paid-up capital increased by about seven and three quarter millions, and the proportion of net earnings to total paid-up capital rose slightly from in 1906 to in 1907.
