This book is a voice of hope in an unhinged world. It is a candid, genuine guide for those who took, as Robert Frost wrote, The Road Less Traveled. Alfred Lackey PhD, Holistic Counseling Service Patricia Wilson has a ninety-chord love song to fuel the required emotional nutrients that we need. Surely within her book lies a distinctive Rhema for all of us. Connie Lackey, founder of the Ladies Tea Ministry As I read Patricias book, it enlightened me as to what God would intend us to do. The Lord said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tablets that he may run that readeth it. (Hab 2:2) Dick Halloran, Director, Life Abundant Bible College and Healing Rooms. In reading Patricias book I received a blessing in that she was able to express herself with words that God would give her in her walk of faith with Himeven through the tragedy of her loss, knowing how God would sustain her and carry her to the next level. I found that her love for the Lord was expressed in each word I read. I know that anyone reading this book will come to know that there are treasures that only God can give. I believe from my heart that God has great and mighty things ahead for her. JoAnn Halloran, director of Life Abundant Ministry Healing Rooms. I have known Pat many years as a Christian sister, and she lives by Be doers of the Word and not hearers only. James 1:22 (NKJV) I highly recommend this book to all as an inspirational devotion! Vickie Linnins, Teacher My friend, the young-hearted, godly enthusiast Pat Wilson, takes you face-to-face with life and love by rendering her ideas of love to the loveless and strength to the weak. She is inserting the keys to these mysteries as she sees fit, to help fill emptiness and mend brokenness. This book should be taken with you and used as positive energy for any day of your life as our Earth Angel Pat intended it. Donna V. My poetry can best be described as a personal journey lived through depression. From childhood through adulthood I have existed with depression. I have always enjoyed reading and so with reading, the idea of writing poetry came to mind. Being able to express my emotions has played a big part on my road to recovery. Seeing people like myself has helped me give more understanding of how depression affects the mind. Through my poetry I have been able to talk of these emotions through faith in others who have helped me and through my faith in God who has never left me. I try to end my poetry not in negativity but with a purposeful emotion that will give the reader hope, a hope that he or she will someday reach, that pinnacle in their lives that will help them to see beyond that hopelessness of depression. "A masterpiece from the preeminent theologian of love!" A strong case can be made that love is the core of Christian faith. And yet Christians often fail to give love center stage in biblical studies and theology. And most fail to explain what they mean by love. Why is this? Thomas Jay Oord explores this question and offers ground-breaking answers. Oord addresses leading Christian thinkers today and of yesteryear. He explains biblical forms of love, such as agape, philia, hesed, and ahavah. We should understand love’s meaning as uniform, he says, but its expressions are pluriform. Widely regarded as the world's foremost theologian of love, Thomas Jay Oord tackles our biggest puzzles about the nature and meaning of love, divine and creaturely. His proposals are novel. They align with love described in scripture and expressed in everyday experience. Oord also provides radical and yet persuasive answers to questions about evil, hell, the Big Bang, divine violence, divine abandonment, and more. Pluriform Love changes the landscape of Christian love studies. ... What they're saying... “Thomas Jay Oord is the first to systematically clarify a variety of types of love and show that all are characteristic of God. This is an original contribution to theology. Though a complex task, Oord writes in an accessible and attractive way.” John B. Cobb, Jr., Cobb Institute, Author of Salvation: Jesus’s Mission and Ours “Christian theology in the years to come will need a facelift—a true restoration of the biblical witness to the centrality of God’s love. If we wish to help make the faith truly relatable to our world today, Oord’s clear, compassionate, and compelling voice is one we will be thankful for.” Peter Enns, Eastern University and Co-host of The Bible for Normal People “Thomas Jay Oord adds to his proposals on open and relational theology, developing a theology of love which is both uniform in meaning and pluriform according to situation and recipients. The volume is indispensable for those researching the nature of love.” Paul Fiddes, University of Oxford “The glowing multiform forcefield of love embraces every sentence of Pluriform Love. Free of sentimentality and pretense, refusing to pit eros and agape against each other, it unfolds a full-scale theology. This amorous vision will attract a wide readership.” Catherine Keller, Drew University, Author of Facing Apocalypse "Thomas Oord is a global leader exploring the primacy of love within Christian thought and practice. In this book, he presents a theology of love in a loving way. When he grapples with the Scriptures, he shows an attitude of fairness. His writing style combines scholarly depth with accessible simplicity. In the end, Oord makes a radical claim: much of traditional Christian theology cannot take love as seriously as it must. Love must revolutionize Christian theology, and Oord explains how.” Brian D. McLaren, Author of Do I Stay Christian? “This is a rigorous, provocative, creative, and very readable account of the meaning of love, especially divine love. It’s a very important contribution to theological thought on this central topic.” Keith Ward, University of Oxford ...

Even people who know very little about the 14th-century anchoress Julian of Norwich have heard that famous quote. But what relevance can such certain confidence in God's goodness and love have for us who are faced daily with a divided, hurting world? In this very insightful and prayerful book, Jennifer Christ draws parallels between Julian's times and ours and demonstrates how Julian's message of hope and joy in God's never-ending love for us can give us strength and hope. Scholars have called Julian a theological optimist. If you need to hear of God's deep, abiding love for you, and that all shall be well in God's greater plan for your life, spend time with this book-reading Julian's words, praying with them, pondering, and journaling, and letting her hope-filled message take root in your heart.
