Excerpt from Ordinances of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, Passed at the Session of 1862: To Which Is Appended the Mayor's Communication, Reports of City Officers, &C.; A List of Members of Both Branches of the City Council and Officers of the Corporation Section 5. And be it further enacted and ordain ed, That for any violation of the provisions of this ordinance, in not running the boats at the times, and for the respective fares mentioned in the third section of this act, and for the collection of wharf age of any kind, or a refusal to convey fire engines and assistants free of expense, the party or parties contracting with the Commissioners of Finance SO to do, shall forfeit and pay twenty dollars for each and every Offence, to be collected as other fines and forfeitures are now collected, and shall forfeit and make void the contract and covenant hereunto agreed to. Section 6. And be it further enacted and ordain ed, That the resolution No. 18 of the ordinances and resolutions of 1857, entitled Resolution to lease pier or wharf at the south end of Broadway, approved February 19, 1857, be and the same is hereby repealed.
