Benjamin Ogden was born 22 June 1735, probably in New York. His parents were Jonathan Ogden and Willmont. He married Rachel Westervelt in about 1758. They had three sons and daughter. He fought in the British Army in the Revolutionary War. He died from wounds sustained in battle at Utah Springs, South Carolina in 1780. After the war, his family moved to New Brunswick. His wife married Timothy Wetmore, a widower with nine children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York and New Brunswick.
