Tres alcances a Góngora: "Sabor de Góngora" y "Lo popular en Góngora", que antes aparecían en la segunda serie de los Capítulos de literatura española (1945), pasaron al presente tomo por la afinidad del asunto. Por igual motivo se recoge aquí el ensayo, muy posterior, sobre "La estrofa reacia del Polifemo". Varia no requiere explicación. Entre libros es un conjunto de reseñas sobre publicaciones literarias. La colección comienza en 1912 -la primera época mexicana, a que pertenecen los tres primeros artículos- y se extiende hasta 1923.
