Excerpt from Lectures on Gynecological Nursing The contents of this pamphlet represents very well the lectures delivered by the undersigned to the nurses of St. Barnabas Hospital during the winter of 1900 - 1901. I am sure these Notes will be of use to those for whom they are intended. I have purposely refrained from any theoretical talk. Our lectures to nurses should be of the simplest and most practical character. The nurse should not be encumbered with things that she cannot understand, or which are useless to her in'the practical work of her calling. Excerpt from Essentials of Gynecology: Arranged in the Form of Questions and Answers, Prepared Especially for Students of Medicine N 0 one appreciates more fully than the Author the inadequacy of this little work for a thorough study of Gynaecology. This has not been the aim. He only hopes that as a means of review and as a summary of the results of more extensive reading, the student may find the work of some value. The Author wishes also to state that in its compilation be'bas freely consulted, and made use of, the standard works of Hart and Barbour, Thomas, Schroeder, The American System of Gynaecology, notes on the lectures of Prof. Geo. M. Tuttle at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, New. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Obstetrics for Nurses Although this book is intended primarily for nurses, the author believes that medical students will find something of value in it, since the duties of a nurse often devolve upon them in their early years of obstetric practice. There are really two subjects considered in the book, - obstetrics for nurses and the actual obstetric nursing, - and the author has sought to combine them so that the relations of one to the other might be natural and mutually helpful in presenting this branch of medicine in a clear and interesting form. The illustrations are nearly all original, and were made expressly for the work. The photographs were taken by the author from actual scenes, and the reader is invited to study the details, as especial care was taken to render the pictures true to life in every respect. The text is the outgrowth of eight years' lecturing to the nurses of four different training schools. For the preparation of the dietary the author acknowledges his thanks to Mrs. E. E. Koch, Superintending Nurse of the Chicago Lying-in Hospital, and for the chapter on the Infant's Layette he is indebted to Miss Katherine DeWitt, who does private nursing for many of his cases.
