While studying Children's Literature, I wrote the poem "Noah, the Unwanted Dog." On occasion, I would perform substitute teaching in the township schools and children loved the poem. It was then I decided to turn the poem into a children's book. Noah is the story of a rescue dog from the animal shelter. He was named Noah to represent all animals that are rescued from shelters, dangers, and loneliness. Noah is the story of a dog who found a forever home and was truly the most amazing pet.

Noah turned his head as rain rolled down the window near his hospital bed. Then he suddenly felt something wet on the palm of his hand. It was a French bulldog burrowing under his hand. “That’s Link’s way of asking you to pet him!” said the dog’s handler. Noah stroked Link’s short fur and told the dog about how he broke his leg during a flood. As if sensing his sadness, Link licked Noah’s chin. For the first time in days, a broad smile appeared on Noah’s face.

Noahs Garden is a story of lifes most important lessons as seen through the eyes of a variety of animals and mythical entities, both in nature around us and in our imaginations. It takes us through the life of one stray dog named Jewell as she discovers why her crazy antics cause her own troubles to exist, and how that same energy can be placed on a higher level that would surround her and those she loves most with much goodness. In the process, she runs into the Monster Shadow, the ultimate that exists because of the discarded bad intentions of all those who have gone through Noahs Forest before her as they traveled to the garden and to the discovery of their better selves. With the help of Daffonia, the deer Jewell encounters first when she enters the forest, and many others, including an aggravating little sprite named Tolebit, all the way through the many Eyes of the Forest and to their leader, Astilbe, Jewell has the journey of a lifetime and discovers the true value of learning lifes lessons the hard way. Noahs Garden is about sudden realizations and the learning process we all go through to reach those levels of understanding. It is about self-reflection and defense mechanisms, fixing our flaws and trying to be as good as we can be. It is about understanding ourselves and learning to understand the world around us.

Ali Bobrow is an otherworldly single parent with an overwrought nine-year-old daughter, a malevolent ex and his grabby new wife, and an underused artistic talent. A pushover when it comes to needy neighbors and uninvited children, she allows her house to be the local drop-in center, until she collides with Noah Glazer, who falls for her pale red hair. A solid man of science, Noah walks into her over-populated life bringing good sense, order, and security. But ten years later, Ali is drawn back into the complexities of her past; an old lover, two ex-spouses, a colleague from clown school, and a small smuggled cat all help to rock the boat. "Why did it take me so long to discover the singular joys of Barbara Trapido's novels? Why, for so many years, had I missed these witty, soulful, heartbreaking, expansive, brilliant tales? I have become a literary evangelist on her behalf." --Elizabeth Gilbert
