"The Ambitious Guest," is told with singular delicacy and imaginativeness, while "The Great Stone Face," is a parable. Hawthorne's numerous tales are represented by one of the briefest, "The Gray Champion," whose succinct opening and eloquent close are no less admirable than the stern passion of its dramatic climax.
