With the constant barrage of things that consume our time and energy, it is often difficult for us to steal away and take time to just be quiet. Some things we have to do and choose to do can invade the time that we would have spent just being still. So as we schedule our days why not schedule time to be in the Silence. My Ramblings in the Silence is an opportunity to build the habit of sitting in the silence and listening to the Father. I had to make myself sit in Silence because it is so easy to get caught in the busyness of the day. Even when we think that we have planned well we can look up and find that our time has been spent and we wonder where it went. This devotional challenges you to take 21 days and spend intentional time sitting in the Silence. Not asking for anything, but listening for everything that the Father would want to speak to you. The short devotions shared here are my honest musings as I contend for the Silence. I invite you to share this experience with me and journal what God is speaking to you in the Silence.

Funny how things are remembered differently by persons who share the same space, the same air and even the same pillows and blankets that are tangled and wrapped around legs, arms and bodies; my memories, like fine wine, have been sweetened with time enjoy

"It's the unfathomable modern legend that has become a testament to the resilience of the human spirit: the 1972 Andes plane crash and the Uruguayan rugby teammates who suffered seventy-two days among the dead and dying. It was a harrowing test of endurance on a snowbound cordillera that ended in a miraculous rescue. Now comes the unflinching and emotional true story by one of the men who found his way home"--Page 4 of cover

Every Juan/a finds him/herself trapped in extremely painful and cruel circumstances once in a while. What keeps Juan/a going in the face of life-changing situations like natural or man-made disasters, terrorism and violence, illness and death, abject poverty and hunger, social marginalization and rejection? This third installment in The Gospel According to Juan/a series explores the nature of hope and hopelessness through storytelling. Gabriel Marcel’s “Sketch of a Phenomenology and a Metaphysics of Hope” is juxtaposed with biblical passages in framing this collection of true-to-life stories and personal essays. Philosophical and biblical thoughts on hope come to life in everyday struggles of Juan/a. In the end, one realizes that hope springs eternal in places where love abounds.

Love is so much more than a feeling; a temporary, changeable emotion. Love is a choice you make over and over every day. Love should never be an impulse; it requires an investment. Love means to cherish, treasure, adore, and that should be reserved for people, not things. My dad Poochie loved me, and because he loved me, he enjoyed doing things with me and for me...Father God loves me too with a special all-encompassing love. It is unconditional. He loves me no matter what I do or say or how I behave. It's a forever love. We're all searching for love. But do we really understand it? How do we find it? How do we access and keep it? Do we even know what it is? Katherine Ford tackles each of these question using her wonderful father's love as a picture of the love of our heavenly Father she came to know as an adult. Wherever you're at in your search for love, you'll find encouragement and inspiration in Father God and My Dad Poochie.
