Author Mitch Stephen has been a self-employed, creative real estate investor for over 20 years. He bought and sold well over 1,000 houses in his hometown and specializes in "The Art of Owner Financing." He has written two other books centered on his experience in real estate... MY LIFE & 1,000 HOUSES: Failing Forward to Financial Freedom MY LIFE & 1,000 HOUSES: 200+ Ways to Find Bargain Properties This book, MY LIFE & 1,000 HOUSES: The Art of Owner Financing, is an insider's look at a very powerful strategy for building wealth quickly. In this book you're going to learn... - How to get paid to build your cash flow. - How to generate cash flow without being a landlord. - How to get paid six ways on your deals. - How to recognize what properties are good to owner finance. - How to make money on the properties that aren't good to owner finance. - How to find private money for your deals. - How to sell notes with little to no discount. ...and much, much more! Tired of being a landlord? Are you tired of all the late night phone calls about leaking toilets, busted hot water heaters, broken air conditioners, and on and on and on? If so, this book is a must read! For years the gurus of the day have been selling us the "Buy & Hold" myth. Most landlords have fooled themselves into thinking they're making money. Year after year would-be-retirees have to postpone their retirement because the rental income they calculated on paper never makes it to their tax return. Mitch can show you exactly why this is happening and how to stop it from happening by using a strategy that is less known and grossly misunderstood. The owner financing strategy changes everything! Change your property's value. Change your community for the better. Change your buyer's life, and change your personal financial situation in the process. All kinds of doors open when we stop using broken down traditional techniques and start thinking outside the box. And best of all, 90% of the deals are done with none of your own money! The strategies in this book are mind-blowing! Mitch believes that real estate investing is a tremendous strategy for acquiring wealth. He has helped new investors find their place; He has helped veteran investors re-invent themselves by BECOMING THE BANK! "From one of Fine Homebuilding's best-loved authors, Larry Haun, comes a unique story that looks at American home building from the perspective of twelve houses he has known intimately. Part memoir, part cultural history, A Carpenter's Life as Told by Houses takes the reader house by house over an arc of 100 years. Along with period photos, the author shows us the sod house in Nebraska where his mother was born, the frame house of his childhood, the production houses he built in the San Fernando Valley, and the Habitat for Humanity homes he devotes his time to now. It's an engaging read written by a veteran builder with a thoughtful awareness of what was intrinsic to home building in the past and the many ways it has evolved. Builders and history lovers will appreciate his deep connection to the natural world, yearning for simplicity, respect for humanity, and evocative notion of what we mean by "home.""--

In these pages you will find inspiring, true stories of people who didn't have hope?until they had a home. Stories of children who gained identity and confidence for their future. Of families made stronger and healthier and prison inmates who are now giving back to their communities. Of entire communities bonding together around an ethic of hard work and mutual respect. Of denominational, political, and racial barriers falling with every swing of the hammer. Of a growing host of young people engaged in the quest to end poverty housing. And even some wonderful love stories. The end result is nothing less than the transformation of lives, communities, and families?one person, one home at a time. Which, of course, has always been the dream?to build more than houses. "Habitat for Humanity is building much more than houses. By building hope it is building relationships, strengthening communities, and nurturing families." ?Actor Paul Newman, Habitat supporter "Rosalynn and I believe in Habitat's integrity, effectiveness, and tremendous vision. With Habitat, we build more than houses. We build families, communities, and hope." ?Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter "I could have gone through my whole life bouncing back and forth on welfare. Habitat makes a difference, and allows people to be what God intended them to be instead of what their circumstances dictate." ?Missouri homeowner Terrie Robinson

This book deals with situations of living through the German occupation of Norway from 1940, including shortages of food and heat, all under a threatening occupation by the Hitlerite German Army. My father was imprisoned in Germany for five years while we survived without his strength and abilities. At eleven years old, I escaped imprisonment or death when caught by a German soldier in the wrong place. The story moves to a totally different environment in Nigeria, with another culture that was about to be changed by the removal of British control. This gives a picture of the beginning of large changes. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip attended the liberation ceremony in Benin. This book also includes a number of images of the life of the African and English cultures. This includes the problems of living with noxious tropical diseases and pests. Bernard returned to Britain to continue work and studies but, unfortunately, developed a serious disease, cerebral vasculitis, that they did not think he would survive. Fortunately, he has and is still active.
