The book entitled "Plant Stress Tolerance – Physiological & Molecular Strategies" has been especially edited for holistic development of the science of agriculture and crop production under distinctly changing environment. Resource utilization is always overlooked; hence a brief focus on sustainability has been remarkably presented to prove the meaningfulness of this publication. This book brings ingenious applied researches highlighting the major environmental factors coupled with scrupulous strategies in solving abiotic stresses in varied micro and macro agro-climatic conditions , in general, and unfolding the basis for tolerance mechanisms in plant systems, in particular.

This book describes cutting-edge organic syntheses of biologically active compounds, isolation of pharmaceutically promising compounds from microorganisms, drug design, and progress on chemical biology. Synthetic strategy and tactics are summarized for super-carbon chain compounds, antitumor polycycles, aryl C-glycoside, antimycins, duocarmycins, cannabinoids, and other compounds. Special chapters are devoted to synthesis and biochemistry of fatty acid metabolites, which play a central role in the initiation and resolution of inflammation. The book provides a quick survey of trending topics in organic synthesis and chemical tools for biological investigation, and furnishes ideas for future research in organic synthesis. In addition, the contents can easily be understood by young chemists, graduate students, and those who are looking for new research based on organic chemistry.

This book describes the nature of aging, age-related disorders, and the molecular principles of emerging strategies for anti-aging interventions, while also discussing the discovery of targets for geroprotective drugs. Although significant medical advances in the treatment and eradication of life-threatening conditions such as cardiovascular and infectious disease have been made over the past five decades, the prevalence of age-related disorders still remains high in older populations. Intervening into aging is the next frontier in contemporary medicine, and will be of increasing importance over time, as other sources of poor health are combated more and more successfully. Given the universal interest in anti-aging strategies, the book will appeal to a very broad audience. It addresses a diverse range of anti-aging interventions – including stem cells, autophagy, senolytics, anti-inflammatory methods, and telomerase induction – that will be of interest to scientists and researchers from various disciplines in the life sciences.

During the past 4O years there have been major conceptual and technical advances in the domain of dialysis methods and renal/organ transplantation for long-term treatment of patients with End-Stage Renal Failure (ESRF). This now enables better defined, more selective strategies of treatment tobe undertaken, according to patient-specific criteria such as age or underlying renal disease also taking into account the lifetime duration of these treatments. For many patients this implies necessary successive changes of mode of therapy depending on their availability, occurrence ofmedical/technical complications or failure and social-environmental and economic factors. This rationale has inspired the structure of this volume which is divided into four sections: 1/ A descriptive overview of the various modes of renal replacement therapy (RRT): Extracorporeal dialysis/filtration, peritoneal dialysis, kidney and multi-organ transplantation.2/ Most appropriate indications and use of these methods, respective advantages, drawbacks and outcome in children, pregnant women and elderly patients 3/ In diabetic patients and in patients with hereditary/congenital diseases. 4/ The ethical issues generated by this new domain in Medicine by limitations in treatment facilities or medical dilemmas for acceptance, best technical choices, withdrawal or terminationof RRT in individual patients. Finally, contributors form Eastern European Countries, Africa and Far Eastern Countries analyse the current status of RRT in their respective geographical area and the ways and means required for a wider implementation of RRT in thus far lesser economically developed countries where the greatmajority of the populations still have no access to these life-saving therapeutic procedures.

Creatures often suffer changes in conditions of their surroundings from the womb to the tomb through the climate alterations and their own movements, and may have various strategies in place to overcome such environmental changes. Among the conditions they encounter, the pH of environments surrounding creatures varies dramatically during lifespans, especially in microorganisms. In humans, the skin covering the body prevents acidification inside the body, and cells are surrounded by body fluid whose pH is kept at 7.4. Nevertheless, pH surrounding cells is often acidified, especially diseased areas, such as cancer nests, inflammatory loci, and infarction areas. Life sciences at the molecular level have been focused on studies in near neutral pH conditions because neutral pH is favourable for many creatures. For a deeper understanding of life, it is essential to clarify molecular mechanisms of how organisms and cells keep their activities when their surroundings are acidified, in the “acidic world”. This book summarises the current achievements concerning how cellular functions are kept in acidic environments for a wide range of living organisms, from bacteria to humans. Research results obtained to date allow the prediction that all creatures have different sets of genes and use them under different pH conditions. However, we only know little about the “acidic world”, and a huge number of uncovered questions are waiting to be resolved. Their elucidation would help to open up a new way of understanding life.
