Paige Spears was on her way to a job interview when she first met Diane Hunt. The two of them made friendly conversation while waiting for their breakfast, and Diane ended up asking Paige to come work for her for the summer. Paige was reluctant about beginning her cooperate career anyway, so she jumped at Diane's offer. As luck would have it, her first assignment was to spend a week in Myrtle Beach with Diane and her family. Paige quickly found herself in a car with a woman she'd just met, headed to a place she'd never been, and about to be on a vacation with people she didn't know. She thought she'd make the best of it and enjoy one last summer adventure before joining the real world. She had no idea this trip would change her life forever.

Falling in love is a bit like running a race--it's not easy for anyone. Meet Me at Fountain Park Everything changes, or at least that’s what they say. For Missy Lawrence, this old adage just doesn’t fit. Her life has come to an unsolicited standstill. Her job as a news reporter for WSTA-Charlotte is miraculously mundane and her love life is practically non-existent. Even though she tries, she can’t seem to pull herself out of this rut. While she’s stuck in between, all of her friends are finding themselves in a flurry of activities: Brooklyn’s moving in with Duke, Benson and Jack are heading across the country in search of stardom, and Adair is preparing to walk down the aisle and wed the man of her dreams. As her social engagements pile up, she notices that her calendar has reached maximum capacity because of her friends and their obligations. Missy now realizes that she is going to have to make a huge decision: Will she stay in the past or will she join her capricious pals and take a leap of her own? Reader Reviews: Mindy Killgrove builds the story of a modern young woman and her group of friends in this second novel in the Missy Lawrence Trilogy: Meet Me at Fountain Park. With a delicious blend of humor, sex appeal, and naivety, Killgrove takes the reader inside the eyes of the protagonist and allows them to ponder some of life’s biggest questions. This novel is the perfect beach blanket read and can be devoured on one sunny afternoon. Again, Missy Lawrence and her band of fabulous friends drew me in and entertained me throughout this entire second installment of Killgrove's Missy Lawrence Trilogy. I felt her characters were so accessible, and the ups and downs they found themselves in throughout the work so relatable, that I'm really looking forward to her third installment (although I will be sad when there isn't any new material). This was such a great sophomoric release that I highly recommend it to all would-be Missy Lawrence fans!

When uptight CEO Brody King crashes into Leanna and a hundred cupcakes are ruined, he does the only thing he can–he offers to help her make more. All it takes is a few cups of sugar and a dash of vanilla before Brody is craving not just Leanna’s sweet treats, but the baker herself. The Burgess family of Remington Park is not like other families. Lisette is a mother who loves too much; who is troubled but doesn't know why; who needs, but doesn't know what it is she needs. Ray is a father distanced from his children, deeply in love with his wife, absorbed in his career. Dana, Gaby and Glenn are the products of this marriage. Three confused and uncertain people who keep trying, and failing, to make their way in the world. It is Glenn, the youngest child, who is the ultimate focus of this book; a greatly talented, but bewildered young woman who relies on alcohol to help her find some sort of path through her life. And it is Cory, son of Gaby and grandson of Lisette, who -- against the odds, in spite of the circumstances -- knows exactly what he wants and has a powerful inner direction that will allow him to attain it. And it is Cory, too, who, remarkably, has a gift for what everyone else in the family wants but has such difficulty finding: love. The Burgesses are three generations of complex, talented, and driven people, all of whom have been deeply, permanently influenced by the lost and loving Lisette.

Thousands of families and individuals are attracted to the South Carolina coast each year, renting houses up and down the beach throughout the seasons. They bring their lives with them when they come to this magical place. In A Week at Surfside Beach, author Pierce Koslosky Jr. has crafted sixteen poignant short stories that paint a vivid portrait of the beach's diverse, temporary inhabitants: those people attracted to a landscape both beautiful and overwhelming in its ability to force introspection and change. Set over the course of a single rental season that ends at Christmas, the book's unrelated characters all have their stays in the blue beach house, yet each story has a distinct message at its core. Readers will follow people in every stage of life--from a six-year-old entering the imaginary world of crabs to an escapee from a retirement home--and witness their varied individual experiences. These are stories of hope and redemption, connection and detachment, and lessons taught and learned. Both original and contemplative, heartbreaking and inspirational, A Week at Surfside Beach brings together a collection of tales with seemingly ordinary, simple, and familiar details--yet underneath their calm, relatable surfaces exist the uncomfortable, extraordinary complexities of life.
