This book explores the concept of a map as a fundamental data type. It defines maps at three levels. The first is an abstract level, in which mathematic concepts are leveraged to precisely explain maps and operational semantics. The second is at a discrete level, in which graph theory is used to create a data model with the goal of implementation in computer systems. Finally, maps are examined at an implementation level, in which the authors discuss the implementation of a fundamental map data type in database systems. The map data type presented in this book creates new mechanisms for the storage, analysis, and computation of map data objects in any field that represents data in a map form. The authors develop a model that includes a map data type capable of representing thematic and geometric attributes in a single data object. The book provides a complete example of mathematically defining a data type, ensuring closure properties of those operations, and then translating that type into a state that is suited for implementation in a particular context. The book is designed for researchers and professionals working in geography or computer science in a range of fields including navigation, reasoning, robotics, geospatial analysis, data management, and information retrieval.

An international business expert helps you understand and navigate cultural differences in this insightful and practical guide, perfect for both your work and personal life. Americans precede anything negative with three nice comments; French, Dutch, Israelis, and Germans get straight to the point; Latin Americans and Asians are steeped in hierarchy; Scandinavians think the best boss is just one of the crowd. It's no surprise that when they try and talk to each other, chaos breaks out. In The Culture Map, INSEAD professor Erin Meyer is your guide through this subtle, sometimes treacherous terrain in which people from starkly different backgrounds are expected to work harmoniously together. She provides a field-tested model for decoding how cultural differences impact international business, and combines a smart analytical framework with practical, actionable advice.

So much technology works, not by good design or by being a good fit to purpose, but because people make it work because they have to for some reason. We humans are incredibly creative and resourceful when it comes to getting something done. There are numerous stories we could all tell of the ingenious work-arounds we've developed to make something do what we want it to; or the enormous amount of time we've spent trying to find out how to make some technology work as we want, e.g., trying to find out how to turn off auto-editing commands in a word processing package when all we want is for it to 'do what we tell it'. A good example of this principle was what motivated me to switch from neural networks to the area of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) for my PhD research. I had undertaken a case study looking at the deployment of a multi-million dollar health information system throughout a hospital network.

Mobile App Promotion(MAP) Framework is a guideline which defines the product promotion steps - Ideation, Design, Marketing and Growth - with trending tools and resources that will take more than 80 hours for you to collect and discover. Digital marketing of mobile apps requires vertical and deep expertise. Marketing a mobile app involves defining a target audience, learning how to reach them and interacting with your users through their entire lifecycle, from when they meet your app, to when they become a loyal user. Although mobile marketing starts with the introduction of your application, more strategies are required for App Store Optimization (ASO) and the sale of services and products within the application. And growth hacking methods need to be considered for engagement and retention. You may prefer hiring an agency for promoting your app, but how you measure the quality of work? Instead, we suggest you to try it yourself first, then ask for professional assistance. Ideation, Design, Marketing and Growth phases are the most critical pillars of Mobile App Lifecycle. With MAP Framework, you will get a top-down approach and be able to create your strategy for your mobile apps. We will focus on 30+ subtopic with proven tools and techniques within MAP Framework. This e-book will also let you to look at the Mobile App Lifecycle from a Higher Perspective. Why Seeing From a Higher Perspective is Essential? ENTER has now met for six years, providing a valuable forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss and debate their ideas and perspectives regarding the nature and role of tourism and information technology in global society. Over the years, the nature and rate of change in the tourism industry has been overwhelming. The internet and related technologies are now dominant agents of change and have created a "new economy" which requires new processes and strategies to replace those developed for the "old economy". The theme of ENTER 2000, "Keeping Pace with Change - New Frontiers for IT and Tourism", captures the challenges that we face at the beginning of the new millennium. The papers included in this volume illustrate the incredible growth in research and development in this area and reflect its youth, vitality and at the same time, maturation. Perhaps most important, these papers document how this new technology has changed and, in tum, how the industry has responded. The series of proceedings of which this volume is a part is creating a unique body of knowledge about the intertwined emergence of tourism and technology. There are, perhaps, three overriding themes of this congress. First is the focus on the tourist. Professor Stock's keynote address "Intelligent Interfaces for the Tourist" is a good representative of a series of papers discussing how information systems, electronic markets, and user interfaces have been or can be developed to enhance the tourist experience.

framework Framework for the World. The geographical framework for the world is so fundamental it affects the lives of everyone on earth. On top of this 'template' virtually all other kinds of information are collected and displayed, ranging from population and socio-economic statistics, through environmental data of all kinds to asset registers such as the location of underground pipes and cables. For many years, the framework comprised simple topographic paper maps. Increasingly it is formed by topographic digital databases, from which maps and other products can be 'spun off'. These maps and databases have been created by a branch of national government, the National Mapping Organizations. At present, however, there are large variations in the content, quality and currency of the mapping and many countries have not yet converted all their maps into digital format. The world of NMOs is in turmoil, beset by rapid changes in technology, higher expectations from users of information and radical changes in the ways in which governments operate. This book describes how different approaches are being taken in policy and practical terms in different countries to face these common challenges. It also describes how global - as compared to purely national - needs are emerging for GI and how this demand is being met. The mutation of some national mapping organisations into geographical information utilities and the growth of national geographical information systems are outlined. Framework for the World is developed in 21 chapters written by senior managers involved with the framework from many different countries and drawn from both civilian and military organizations, from the United Nations and from the users of geographical frameworks.
