Much more than simple principles and platitudes, the book takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light. In the first chapter, Tolle introduces readers to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind. He awakens readers to their role as a creator of pain and shows them how to have a pain-free identity by living fully in the present. The journey is thrilling, and along the way, the author shows how to connect to the indestructible essence of our Being, "the eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death." Featuring a new preface by the author, this paperback shows that only after regaining awareness of Being, liberated from Mind and intensely in the Now, is there Enlightenment.

In 11 Days at the Edge, the author joins spiritual teacher Andrew Cohena self-described idealist with revolutionary inclinationsin an exploration of an emerging new spiritual paradigm. In this paradigm the traditional revelation of enlightenment is explored in the context of the evolving universe with truly mind-expanding results. Cohen, once a teacher of ""personal enlightenment,"" now teaches enlightenment as a collective emergence the emergence of a ""higher we""which he sees as the ground for the emergence of a new culture of enlightened values. Here we find that place where our spiritual longing intersects with our care for the world, empowering both to levels neither could attain alone. Uncompromising in his call for human transformation, Cohen is presented as an radical spiritual figureunyielding in his demand for integritywhose liberated consciousness and ruthless deconstruction of the cultural and spiritual status quo have kept everyone talking. In recognition of his contribution to the philosophy of religious thought, in 2004 he was invited to address the Parliament of World Religions, an unusual honor for a man backed by no established spiritual tradition.

A woman’s true account of eighteen years as a Soviet prisoner: “Not even Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich matches it.”—The New York Times Book Review In the late 1930s, Eugenia Ginzburg was a wife and mother, a schoolteacher and writer, and a longtime loyal Communist Party member. But like millions of others during Stalin’s reign of terror, she was arrested—on trumped-up charges of being a Trotskyist terrorist counter-revolutionary—and sentenced to prison. With sharp detail and an indefatigable spirit, Ginzburg recounts her arrest and the eighteen harrowing years she endured in Soviet prisons and labor camps, including two in solitary confinement. Her memoir is “a compelling personal narrative of survival” (The New York Times Book Review)—and one of the most important documents of Stalin’s brutal regime. “Deeply significant…intensely personal and passionately felt.”—Time “Probably the best account that has ever been published of…the prison and camp empire of the Stalin era.”—Book World Translated by Paul Stevenson and Max Hayward

Journey into Consciousness may revolve around my story, but within each one of us is a story that is being written each and every day. We are constantly writing the story of our lives based on choices - whether we make these choices ourselves or they are made for us. The directions those choices take us form the foundation for our learning, spiritual growth, and even our happiness. From the moment we breathe that first breath of life to the moment that final breath exits our body, our life story is being written. As we become more aware and mindful of our own personal power, we are better able to make conscious choices, and give ourselves permission to take control of our destiny instead of leaving it up to fate. I know that learning to love and accept myself for who I am and embracing all of my experiences as opportunities for learning and growth have been the catalysts for transformation in my life. I also know that this spiritual journey of mine has strengthened and fortified my soul and psyche so that I know that anything is possible, and that we, human beings, can learn to live the life that we deserve to live. Over the years, I've learned that letting go of fear is a crucial part of spiritual growth, and as a human being, I know that fear is what has held me back and inhibited my ability to write this book for a long time. My personal fears about this recounting of my personal journey into consciousness revolve around the uncertainty of what is safe to share. I acknowledge that the memories of my experiences are solely my perception - my viewpoint. As I tell my story, I do so with the intention of assisting others in awakening to the truth of who they really are and to help them live the life they desire. I apologize here and now if, as my early memories unravel, I inadvertently cause anyone hurt or pain, but my memories are crucial to the telling of my story, and it was Spirit who showed me which memories to share. The memories I was shown are the pivotal ones that impacted me greatly in my early years. I was shown the memories and choices that molded and shaped me - creating who I am today. By shifting my perceptions, I have freed myself from self-imposed limitations. My past no longer defines me; yet I acknowledge the experiences that have made me the person I am today. In Section One of this book, I relate my experiences prior to my spiritual awakening. Each chapter begins with a lesson I have learned and ends with a revelation as well as a message to facilitate your journey. Section Two begins with my spiritual awakening, which I officially designate as May 1, 2008. I began journaling my spiritual path at that time and have incorporated excerpts from my journals. My objective in chronicling and including these personal "aha" moments of learning and clarity is to assist and support my fellow sojourners. During my journey into consciousness, I have utilized many tools that helped me move forward. In Section Three, I share the tools and wisdom that helped me the most - those tools that I have found to be straightforward, uncomplicated, and therefore, easily incorporated into our daily lives. In all three sections, I endeavor to share essential details of my story along with guidance and suggestions received from Spirit to help you move forward on your own personal journey into consciousness, and my primary objectives are as follows: 1) To assist in bringing an understanding of one's life experiences and the consequences of choices made without blaming others 2) To learn to heal from the past through forgiveness and shifting perception 3) To allow ourselves to realize our full potential through empowerment and love

M. Robert Mulholland Jr. defines spiritual formation as "the process of being formed in the image of Christ for the sake of others." Compact and solid, this definition encompasses the dynamics of a vital Christian life and counters our culture's tendency to make spirituality a trivial matter or reduce it to a private affair between "me and Jesus." In Invitation to a Journey, Mulholland helps Christians new and old understand that we become like Christ gradually, not instantly. Not every personality is suited to an early morning quiet time, so Mulholland frees different personality types to express their piety differently. He reviews the classical spiritual disciplines and demonstrates the importance of undertaking our spiritual journey with (and for the sake of) others. This road map for spiritual formation is profoundly biblical and down to earth. In the finest tradition of spiritual literature, it is a vital help to Christians at any stage of their journey. This edition is revised and expanded by Ruth Haley Barton with a new foreword, practices and study guide.

A stunning tale set in England, Paris, and Moscow, chronicling Blanch's love for an older Russian man and the passionate obsession that takes her to Siberia and beyond. “My book is not altogether autobiography, nor altogether travel or history either. You will just have to invent a new category,” Lesley Blanch wrote about Journey into the Mind’s Eye, a book that remains as singularly adventurous and intoxicating now as when it first came out in 1968. Russia seized Lesley Blanch when she was still a child. A mysterious traveler—swathed in Siberian furs, bearing Fabergé eggs and icons as gifts along with Russian fairy tales and fairy tales of Russia—came to visit her parents and left her starry-eyed. Years later the same man returned to sweep her off her feet. Her love affair with the Traveller, as she calls him, transformed her life and fueled an abiding fascination with Russia and Russian culture, one that would lead her to dingy apartments reeking of cabbage soup and piroshki on the outskirts of Paris in the 1960s, and to Siberia and beyond.
