Careers in science, engineering, and medicine offer opportunities to advance knowledge, contribute to the well-being of communities, and support the security, prosperity, and health of the United States. Many countries have implemented policies to increase the number and quality of scientific researchers as a means to foster innovation and spur economic development and progress.
