This book covers the fundamental principles, new theories and methodologies, and potential applications of hybrid intelligent networks. Chapters focus on hybrid neural networks and networked multi-agent networks, including their communication, control and optimization synthesis. This text also provides a succinct but useful guideline for designing neural network-based hybrid artificial intelligence for brain-inspired computation systems and applications in the Internet of Things. Artificial Intelligence has developed into a deep research field targeting robots with more brain-inspired perception, learning, decision-making abilities, etc. This text devoted to a tutorial on hybrid intelligent networks that have been identified in nature and engineering, especially in the brain, modeled by hybrid dynamical systems and complex networks, and have shown potential application to brain-inspired intelligence. Included in this text are impulsive neural networks, neurodynamics, multiagent networks, hybrid dynamics analysis, collective dynamics, as well as hybrid communication, control and optimization methods. Graduate students who are interested in artificial intelligence and hybrid intelligence, as well as professors and graduate students who are interested in neural networks and multiagent networks will find this textbook a valuable resource. AI engineers and consultants who are working in wireless communications and networking will want to buy this book. Also, professional and academic institutions in universities and Mobile vehicle companies and engineers and managers who concern humans in the loop of IoT will also be interested in this book.

International Conference Intelligent Network and Intelligence in Networks (2IN97) French Ministry of Telecommunication, 20 Avenue de Segur, Paris -France September 2-5, 1997 Organizer: IFIP WG 6.7 -Intelligent Networks Sponsorship: IEEE, Alcatel, Ericsson, France Telecom, Nokia, Nordic Teleoperators, Siemens, Telecom Finland, Lab. PRiSM Aim of the conference To identify and study current issues related to the development of intelligent capabilities in networks. These issues include the development and distribution of services in broadband and mobile networks. This conference belongs to a series of IFIP conference on Intelligent Network. The first one took place in Lappeeranta August 94, the second one in Copenhagen, August 95. The proceedings of both events have been published by Chapman&Hall. IFIP Working Group 6.7 on IN has concentrated with the research and development of Intelligent Networks architectures. First the activities have concentrated in service creation, service management, database issues, feature interaction, IN performance and advanced signalling for broadband services. Later on the research activities have turned towards the distribution of intelligence in networks and IN applications to multimedia and mobility. The market issues of new services have also been studied. From the system development point of view, topics from OMG and TINA-C have been considered.

Intelligence in Networks is a concept, the meaning of which is highly related to the time-period when it is used. In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, it was mainly related to the teleservice repertoire `an sich'. In the 1990s, it is more related to efficient flexibility in the introduction of new teleservices and teleservice repertoire. This state-of-the-art text sets out to identify and study issues related to solutions for increasing intelligence in networks. As examples, intelligence networks (IN), telecommunication information networking architecture (TINA) and mobile agents and active networks are different solutions for improving the grade of network intelligence. The areas under discussion include research and development within various closely related fields such as: Teleservices, service architecture and service creation; Middleware and specification languages; Mobile agents, active networks, plug-and-play issues; and Quality of service and performance.£/LIST£ Intelligence in Networks contains the proceedings of SMARTNET'99, the fifth in a series of conferences on intelligence in networks sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), at the Asian Institute of Technology, Pathumthani, Thailand in November 1999.

In the last decade, wireless or wired sensor networks have attracted much attention. However, most designs target general sensor network issues including protocol stack (routing, MAC, etc.) and security issues. This book focuses on the close integration of sensing, networking, and smart signal processing via machine learning. Based on their world-class research, the authors present the fundamentals of intelligent sensor networks. They cover sensing and sampling, distributed signal processing, and intelligent signal learning. In addition, they present cutting-edge research results from leading experts.

The IFIP International Working Conference on Intelligent Networks '95 was held at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen. The conference was organised jointly by the Center for Tete-Information at DTU and Tele Danmark Research! during August 30-31 1995 and was hosted by the Center for Tete-Information. The conference was sponsored by IFIP TC6. The papers contained in this book are edited versions of the papers from the conference and some of the tutorial presentations that were arranged prior to the conference. The mixture of tutorial papers and conference papers gives a broad and yet thorough coverage of activities and central areas of development in the IN world at this point in time. Future developments, especially in the area of extended mobility support and multimedia capabilities, are also pre sented. BACKGROUND The theme of the conference was the two major trends in Intelligent Networks (IN) develop ment: • ITU and ETSI based IN standards, such as CS-1 and the upcoming CS-2 and • long term development as undertaken by, for example, the TINA consortium and the Euro pean RACE and ACTS programmes. The present IN technology based on capability sets is on its way into the networks, and opera tors are pushing for open platforms to be deployed in the networks in the near future in order to obtain greater freedom in selecting platforms for service provisioning.
